My husband and I have decided to adopt a child
We have been thinking about it since our daughter was born 15 months ago. We are having another baby and are due in August. I know most would say that with us having a young child and another one on the way that right now is probably not the best time to consider adoption, but my husband and I feel confident about this and are really excited to get started. We know the process can be quite long and would like our kids to all be close in age so if we start now it should all work out.
I have some questions I am hoping I may be able to get answered.
I talked to Social Services here in Saskatchewan and she explained that we could go about this two different ways. We could either go with an agency or do this ourselves. I honestly would prefer to do this ourselves. My mom is a paralegal and works for a lawyer that has done adoption before. They are both willing to help us out and the extra work doesn't bother me in the least. What are the major differences in going with an agency vs. doing it yourself?
Also, my husband refused to fly so we would have to find a country that either allows only one parent to travel or have the child escorted to our country. Where would I find decent information on which countries expect what type of travel?
