Looking for homeopathic ideas/suggestions for chronic sinus infection while pg

Hi I am posting on the behalf of my wonderful sister who is currently 24 weeks pg and has been suffering from a chronic sinus infection since the beginning of Dec.

She has been on various abx and under the supervision of an ENT recently. Today - they recommended since her infection appears to have resolved, to use Flonase until her delivery in May (4 months) for her pain & inflammation in her sinus cavities.

She's terrified and looking for alternatives to the flonase - especially because its being prescribed for an extended period (4 months) and the fact its a pregnancy class C drug.

I'm reaching out to any mommas for suggestions, ideas or recommendations I could give her as she is asking me and I'm coming up empty handed except for use a neti pot.

TIA

The neti pot is an excellent remedy for sinus problems of all kinds. I suffered from infections regularly and frankly homeopathy and the neti pot is what enables me to take care of them without drugs. I have done all the antibiotics and nasdal sprays when I was younger (and more trusting of western medicine).

As for homeopathy, I have always had great success with Kali Bich, but remedies are so individual she would be better off seeking the advice of an ND or homeopath. There are also very good combo remedies I have used. (I used them all while pregnant). I have also used this product (Sinus Buster) and had great success.

I thought neti pot too - studies have shown that it reduces chronic sinusitis by 63% - just read that on medline I think...

Whew - I thought I was off a bit in only coming up with the neti pot idea.

Turns out she has been using a neti pot for the last 2 weeks. She's just really concerned about the level of inflammation in her sinuses.

Marnica - thanks for the idea of an ND. I'll give her the idea, but she's already strapped for $$ because once again this is a high-risk pregnancy for her and they're having to see lots of specialists with their very cruddy insurance.

Does anyone think if she cuts out dairy and ups her intake of probiotics it might help? I was also toying with the idea to suggest tumeric to her as I've heard it helps with reducing inflammation in the body.

yes cutting out dairy is a must whenever there is mucus and inflammation. Extra probiotics never hurt either!

Dr. Sears suggests Sinupret on his website. It's not homeopathic, more of a natural remedy widely used in Europe.

I'm not sure if they recommend it for pregnancy or not so you may want to research that.

I want to get some for DD!

ETA: There are homeopathic remedy 'calculators' somewhere online that will match symptoms to remedies. Might be a good option in a financial pinch.

kali bich does a great job many times for sinusitis and infections. However like any homeopathic remedy you would want to make sure the picture would fit.

I just posted about sinus infections on my blog but here's a quickie on it..

Kali Bi is good for green sinus problems and Pulsatilla for yellow. I give instructions on how to take it on the blog.

If after she takes those and she's still having problems I think it would be wise (even though tight on money) to see a homeopath to knock it out. Usually only takes a day or two with the right remedy which in the long run would save her money
