Calm before the storm

Thread Starter
So, I am 39.5 today. Baby has been a bit quieter than usual. Nothing I am concerned about, just very calm is the best way I would describe. Still moving with plenty of frequency, but calm at the same time.

Also, I have been having tons of pre-labor bouts the last two weeks or so. Earlier this week, I had ctx 10 mins apart for 8 hours. But today, the ctx are not particularly strong or frequent.

So, is this possibly a "calm before the storm effect"? Like, everything is quieting down to rest and gear up for the hard work ahead? Or is that just wishful thinking.

Anyone had a "calm before the storm" day and how did it end for you? Labor shortly thereafter, or back to normal the next day or two?

I'd love to hear anyone's stories on this!

With my last birth my friend commented one day about how quiet my 17 mo was being and that maybe he knew something. Well I did go into labor that afternoon, so that is the closest I can get to a calm before the storm. Right now my kids are being quiet and I am feeling like today could be the day despite the lack of signs.

I mean I went from having no symptoms to having a baby that night, so it's possible, right? I know I am so wishing it will come true.

Is there really supposed to be a calm? Because my 3 y/o literally bounces off walls. All.The.Time.

lmao about "the calm" because our wee man is mr hyperactive in dp's belly. if he did get calm, we'd be off to the ob or l&d for an nst in panic-mode.

This is me exactly

Ctx for about 2 weeks for a few or more hours every night and the babe as seriously calmed down--not enough for worry--just a tight squeeze in there I suppose. We will get to the end at some point.

I am wondering the same thing about myself. Every night/day for a week I've had at least 2 hours of false labor, tons of BH, to the point where my uterus was really sore yesterday. Then last night -- nothing! I blissfully slept all night long (well -- with the exception of DD waking me once) and don't think I've had a BH in 12 hours. I lost some more mucus plug this morning, too. So I'm getting excited thinking that the next time my uterus kicks into gear, it could be the real thing! I hope we're both right and meet our babies soon!
