I might just throw up...

I'm nervous. <--Me quivering in fear (also cold, but mostly fear).

As I was leaving yesterday my boss's boss called me into his office and said in that big, joking voice, "BOY DO I HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU!" Which, since I know the guy, I knew to mean, "I'm going to ask you to do something!"

Well, turns out that the school board (I'm a curriculum specialist for a school district) wanted a presentation of my area of expertise. Normally, my boss would do it, but she's in Anchorage recovering from surgery. He was GREAT about it, saying that he knows that DH and I trade off on childcare and that I'm not available some evenings, but if I were available tonight (I am, today is a day that DH works during the day), would I be willing to present.

Well, sure. On a day's notice. And I have boxes and boxes of standardized tests to package up today. So last night, after DS went to bed (DH worked last night and DS is not one to let me loaf about on the computer), I hammered out a presentation.

So tonight I will be presenting to the school board, the superintendent, the two assistant superintendents, and whoever else shows up for the meeting. :Puke

Granted, It's a pretty small (well, large in the geographic sense, but a very everybody-knows-everybody) district, so I'm on a first-name basis with the superintendent and the assistant superintendents. But for the love of Pete... I don't want to! I just want to go home and knit.

I'm sure you'll do fine. Sometimes it's better to have less time to prepare, especially if it's something you know well.

It will be great. You know you're stuff and these people are on your side. They WANT this information. Piece of cake. After childbirth, you can lick this!

Good luck! It's nerve wracking, but a great experience.

I rocked it, if I do say so myself.

I miss being in the classroom, but sometimes it's fun to pontificate and use big words in front of other grown-ups.

Yay for big words and having it go so well!

Way to go! Congrats! The stress sucks, but the boost to the self-esteem is nice, hunh!

Well done!

good luck and update us on how it went! (and fwiw, sometimes the most last minute, extemporaneous things go the best)
