how horrible are these hard anodized pots for me and kids' health?

I have these whole pot sets (lots of money's worth) of pans from pamered chef. I am about to pay to ship and exchange them for brand new ones because mine are eating out at the bottom. I am afraid I am stuck with them forever because they are lifetime warrantied and they are so expensive and they cook well....I wish PC would let me upgrade to the stainless steel or something. sooo yea...scare me please--these aren't the WORST kind of non-stick pans I hear about right? a little safer? TIA

anyone? is this safer a bit than teflon?

Actually it seems like the nonstick coating they are using "is" teflon. Apparently it's "safe" if you don't scratch it, and don't overheat it (like forgetting a pan or burning food in one).

The higher-end teflon pans are probably a little safer than the $7 pans you can buy in the grocery store because they are more durable. But personally, I'd replace them one by one as they wear out. I know it's hard to throw that cash away; I completely empathize. That's why I'd do it one at a time.

*ETA: I do have one teflon frying pan. I am not the world's greatest cook and there are just some things I can't cook without sticking horribly. However, I have learned to do things like pancakes and scrambled eggs in stainless steel pans just fine (with butter, but I'm not anti butter). It takes a little practice, but can be done. And folks swear by cast iron pans as well.

Yeah, those aren't plain hard-anodized like Calphalon Professional (which also wears through, and which I'm in the process of replacing). They've definitely got a nonstick coating on them. Personally, I wouldn't want to use them.
