Magnesium phosphate cell salts during pregnancy and labor-helpful or not?

At the beginning of January I ended up in the ER with preterm labor. My MW had me start taking calcium magnesium, which seemed to help, although I still had repeat incidents. I'll have contractions for several hours with no other symptoms, and then they'll fizzle out. (I'm currently 36w2d.)

My MW attended a seminar about cell salts, and decided to have me take homepathic magnesium phosphate+calcium instead of the pill form. We've passed the clear date for a home birth as of this Tuesday. MW insists that continuing to take the magnesium will not hinder real labor, and that the contractions I'm currently experiencing are "not doing anything." (I don't think I agree with that.) Her reasoning is that if the contractions aren't helping to get labor started, I should be able to rest. She just went to this seminar all about cell salts and how our body needs them. She thought I was probably deficient in magnesium because I kept having false labor. I'm having trouble finding any research one way or the other about the benefits of magnesium phosphate in labor. Here's the link she posted about it, but as you see nothing is mentioned about pregnancy, or whether the magnesium will slow contractions. I know magnesium sulfate DOES stop contractions but I don't know if magnesium phosphate does:

Any ideas? Thanks in advance...I hope I posted this in the right place.

Well, for one I'm at a loss to tell you why she didn't just have you on magnesium when this started. Cal mag is not what I would have considered. Calcium competes with magnesium and if you need mag you should take it on it's own. I recommend naturalcalm.

I use cell salts quite a lot and while they are unbelievably beneficial they are not a substitute (in my mind) for supplemental mag. They serve a different purpose. I'd do both, but that's just me. You aren't going to prevent true labor with cell salts, or nutrition. Your body will only benefit from having an adequate amount of mag before, during and after labor. Your future self will thank you for it as you bypass the worse of the afterpains.
