I refused a one hour GTT today. I'm 6w4d. I have two, supposed, risk factors. 1) a higher BMI (I'm a 14-16, so bigger, but not obese)
2) bigger babies (they were 8lb15oz and 8lb10oz) she said that's "close enough" to 9lbs to count.
I made the nurse mad, but I have had no history of gestational diabetes, no family history, no problems with the 1 hour in my other pregnancies. I wasn't doing it! Sorry! So what's the story with this, anyone know?? Is this really routine now, like she tried to tell me?

I mean, assuming you were getting regular healthcare prior to pregnancy, wouldn't it be fair to assume that type II diabetes would have been caught? If you assume that (which I think is a fair assumption) why not wait until after 20 weeks to check for gestational diabetes?
