Stockmar Watercolor??How do you use them?

My son got a beautiful "paint set" for xmas, with high quality paper, a brush, sponge, board and Stockmar watercolor paints. I don't know how to use them. I am used to the tray of cheap caky water colors. How would you use these with a 4 year old and 8 year old. Thanks

Have you heard of wet-on-wet painting? It's traditionally done in Waldorf as a therapeutic type of painting, and most people use Stockmar watercolors. Essentially you soak the paper with water, add water to your watercolors to dilute, and then paint (usually with just 3 primary colors so that you learn color mixing). Often a story is told while painting to make the painting "come alive."

How very special! What a wonderful gift and what a new world for you all. You might want to join a waldorf group to get story ideas and recources. There are books and videos on this (Search you tube for wet on wet videos)

Soak the paper, put it on the board, sponge it down, make up containers of colors using a bit of the paint and water (not everyone uses the same water to paint ratios)
