What does this mean?

My 13 month old, looking back had some build up and pressure in her ear for almost a month. I thought her being up at the same time every day was my milk supply issue, but now we know more. Two days ago, I noticed she had a whole bunch of ear wax, both dried and crusty and wet, coming out of her ear. I talked to my sister who's daughter is plagued with her ears never draining and she said it was a good thing they drained on their own. But if I was worried to try to drain them out completely using equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide, then a ear syringe. The next day my oldest noticed "boogers" coming out of my 13 month old's ear. It was green and mucousy, but not like nose mucous. It didn't smell, and as of today appears to be all gone. That day, before I noticed the ear wax, she was screaming non stop, then after we cleaned her ears she was her good old self again. She slept wonderfully. Last night she slept great again. But tonight it is definitely not happening!! Also, today she started with a cough and slight clear runny nose. I assume she has an infection, but confused by her short lived good attitude and the green gook. So what could this all possibly mean?

I'd be thinking ear infection that ruptured the ear drum (hence the gook). You don't put stuff in an ear w/a ruptured drum because the inner ear is exposed to whatever you put in the ear.
