I am 38 weeks pregnant. My daughter and I suffered a terrible thrush infection from when she was 3 weeks until she was 4 months. I tried every remedy under the sun (many found thanks to joining MDC and the battling thrush support thread) and nothing really worked until I stopped eating sugar. I eliminated ALL sugar for two months, and the thrush stayed away, even after I was eating like crap again. Once we cured the thrush, we had a beautiful breastfeeding relationship....she only weaned recently at 2.5 years when I got pregnant.

This time, I wanted to be proactive, since of course I do NOT want to go through that again!

So I followed my plan to stop eating sugar and simple carbs at 37 weeks. I've been sugar-free for almost a week and am experiencing a terrible die-off reaction. I got a vaginal yeast infection, then had a terrible reaction to the monistat 3 I used to try and cure it. My midwife prescribed diflucan, since I want my vag to heal before I deliver. Then I felt all achy and got a sore throat. Now I have an itchy rash on my hands. I'm taking probiotics, will start oil of oregano tonight, putting lotramin on my hands, tomorrow I will try an epsom salt bath....is there anything I'm forgetting??? I'm so worried that cutting out sugar is just making the yeast more prevalent in certain areas and I'll end up with thrush anyway. Has anyone BTDT? Any success stories, please share!! For the first time in the pregnancy, I am seriously, seriously anxious about how I will cope if I get thrush again.

Thanks for any and all feedback!!!!!
