Feeling bad when taking Vit. D3

Has anyone else felt worse when taking Vit. D3? I started taking Vit. D3 in August. I took 1000U and by the third day (maybe 2nd) I felt awful. It took me a month before I didn't feel too bad, and I kept taking it until Oct. Then I stopped and I felt a lot better. I decided to add it back in in early Dec. (different brand) and again I felt terrible. I tried lowering the dose to 400U but still it made me feel crappy. Thoughts on why? I've never had my levels checked, but I don't think I get too much sun (I live in NorCal and I wear sunscreen always).

I've not had that experience but those are really, really low doses so it shouldn't be toxicity assuming you don't have an underlying condition that makes vitamin D contraindicated. One of those is parathyroid disease.

Someone once mentioned a lanolin allergy as the source of her difficulty with vitamin D I'm pretty sure. She used a non-lanolin source. You could also try a sun lamp type thing if you really can't tolerate. I'd maybe want a calcium check (should be below 10, 10 is not normal) just to make sure the parathyroid isn't diseased if you have any signs at all of that condition.

After looking at the symptoms for parathyroid disease, I think I'd better get checked out for it. I have several of the symptoms, some subtle, some not. Thanks for the info. The symptoms, plus feeling lousy when taking Vit. D makes me suspicious.
