what type of clothesline would you recommend for me?

i could put one in the yard out in the open, or i could hang one on my truss covered porch. i live in hot humid central florida, so i'm thinking the under-the-porch one might be the best to plan for rainy weather and to avoid the sun fading our brights...

are the rotary "umbrella" ones any good? they seem to be very pricey!

I dont like my unbrella for 1 reason. If its not super windy I need to hang my clothes at least everyother line or they take 4 ever 2 dry. It is nice having all ur clothes right there & not hauling up & dwn the row to get your clothes or the basket.

I live near Tampa, Florida and my Dad built my clothesline for me. It's two wooden T 's strung with two heavy duty plastic clotheslines. It's right out in the sun and I haven't noticed any of our darks fading (and my husband is a "black t-shirt 7 days a week" guy).

My clothesline can hold two full loads of laundry.

In the summer, the rains come in the afternoons, so if I get up and get laundry going first thing in the morning, I'm usually ok bringing it in early afternoon. Sometimes it's just too muggy to dry clothes on the line, though. When it's really hot and dry, the clothes are dry in the same amount of time it takes to dry them in the dryer.

But when we have rainy spells I don't force myself to use the clothesline; I do have a dryer that works and I use it occasionally.

DO invest in good quality clothespins. The plastic ones become brittle in the sun and will fall apart in your hands. The cheap wooden ones are just as bad because they don't hold much weight. I would love to find some cypress clothes pins!

we have one of the rotary 'umbrella' style ones and I love it. It wasnt expensive (from Target.com) and it holds two big loads of laundry. I have it in partial shade (we're in AZ) and it does fine. we do not have a dryer at all, so 100% of our clothes and cloth diapers are line dried. I love it. My neighbors think im 'nuts' and should have a dryer-even when we live in S.AZ where its over 100F for months on end
