In an attempt not to complain about continued prodromal labor (and since I'm busy complaining over in the Working and Student Parents section), I thought I'd make a list of some of the things that I'm already finding funny or know will be funny someday soon.

1) The appointment where it hit me after I walked out that the nurse-midwife was talking like I was carrying twins. She used "they" a couple times, but I initially thought she was being gender neutral.

2) The week my partner and I spent alternating between reason ("this is the first we've heard of this" "surely we would have seen this on the 19-week ultrasound) and panic ("there's no way to fit 2 infant seats, a booster, and the dog in our car" "how much extra stuff would we need to buy?" "how will we afford college?").

3) Going in to a 35-week ultrasound to be assured that there was only one baby in there--"but he's BIG!" After telling him that my first son was almost 8 1/2 pounds and 22 inches, he replied, "This one's in the same range."

4) Slight panic when I walk out of that appointment and then wonder, "Did he mean the baby is *going* to be in that range or *already* is?"

5) Debating when to tell my partner about contractions. With our first son, she was out the door the second my water broke, with me calling after her that we still had to call the OB and wait for her to return the page.

6) Thinking my water had broken last night when I woke up with damp panties. I decided to wait a little bit, so I changed them and headed back to bed where I discovered that I had been using one more blanket than usual and had only been sweating like crazy.

How about yours?
