7.5 mo old moves his head from side to side

...as if he's saying "no". He's done it since he was maybe 5 mo old.

Is that a common behavior in infants? He also does it while he's sleeping, trying to get back to sleep.

I figure it's pretty common, but wanted to check in. Don't know why he does it. Anyone know? I would think it's just playing during the day, but doing it while he's practically asleep?

His hair still hasn't grown in long on the back of his head because he keeps rubbing it off!

Yep, I think it's really normal. Our kiddo did that for awhile, too. It made him look a little deranged but the doc said it was just some new thing he'd learned to do.

Normal, only my baby has done it since birth (she's 5.5mo now).

My son has been doing it since he was about 3months old. Now at 4months he's also doing it occasionally while awake, but he still does it most rigorously upon waking or falling asleep.

Meh, it's gotta be normal because he's so happy otherwise.

ds does it too (7.5 mo) and has since ~6 mo. It freaked me out at first but people have said it's normal. He does it when he's tired, so it's usually my cue to nurse!

I really think my LO picked up somewhere that shaking his head means no. He does it especially when he's done eating or doesn't want the teether in his mouth. Although maybe it's just a natural way of not letting me stick something in his mouth.

My little guy does it to, he is almost 9 months old and has been doing it for about amonth. its kinda funny when you ask him a question and he does it. he does not know what it means but he thinks it is funny.
