Not sure where DD should sleep....

Hi all.. Well my 19 month old DD had been sleeping in her crib fairly well (though she would wake up once or twice a night still) until a few months ago when she got a really bad cold and would wake up choking on her mucus and I had her in bed with me..

Anyway, I guess after having her sleep in the bed with me, I kind of prefer it that way and I actually dont like her sleeping in her room by herself... Its actually kind of weird though because I wasnt like this with my son. He always slept in his own room since he was born.. but with her it is different for some reason... I used to have her crib in the room with me but we decided to move it back to her room...

Anyway I always hear parents talking about how they let their babies/toddlers sleep in bed with them and then they were never able to move them into their own room.. So I guess that is what Im wondering.. If I let her sleep in the bed with me, will she ever sleep in her room on her own when shes older?

Right now she usually ends up in the bed with me because she will wake up most nights in her crib and then I put her in bed with me instead of continuously rocking her back to sleep and putting her back in her crib...

I am just not sure if I should try harder to get her to sleep in her crib more or if I should just let her sleep in the bed with me... I was thinking about posting this in the family bed forum but I just wanted to get all different points of view

I appreciate any opinions!

I promise you at some point she will want to leave your bed. Until then enjoy having your babe close, it feels right because it is natural. We love our family bed (most nights)

For the most part, the people who can "never" move kids to their own beds are people who decide some arbitrary age, like 2, is "old enough" to sleep alone. And by alone, they don't mean that they tried giving the kid their own bed, they mean down the hall.

I would continue to put her to bed in her crib, but when she wakes up bring her in to bed with you. That way, you get the best of both worlds.
