we welcomed Magdalyn Elizabeth into our family! Unfortunately we did not get the homebirth we wanted, but her birth was still amazing and beautiful and perfect. My midwife came to our home when we called and after a cervical check we discovered I was 6 cm and she could feel Maggie's bum instead of her head. We headed to the hospital to get an u/s to confirm she was breech. When we got there we had an amazing staff of doctors and nurses who were very sympathetic and open to discussing our options with us. Had all the criteria been right we could have attempted a breech vaginal birth (which really surprised me), but after monitoring Maggie we heard some decels in her heart rate and decided to go ahead with the c-section. She was born at 4:19am, weighed 7lbs 12 oz, 20 inches long, and has been a rockstar at nursing since the very beginning!
