Anyone know what to help prevent scars once the pox starts to scab over? I'm using this clear calamine stuff for the itching. A few of the pox either broke over night from rubbing on the pillow, or ds managed to scratch them. I usually use Burt's Bees Res Q ointment on cuts and it does great, so will try that, but seeing what else I can try in case this doesn't work. Thanks so much.

From what I know about scarring:
Keeping the wound from drying out helps a bunch. Whatever you can put on it that will keep it moist will help. So, any sort of antibiotic cream (for infection) and keep the lotion on there. I would also recommend lotion for a few weeks afterwards just to be on the safe side.
FWIW when my bro and I got cp we got pretty nasty cases and each of us only has a single pox scar (mine is in the middle of my back...and it's faded over the years)

My pedi recommended sunblock for a year after a bad cut that had the potential to scar and that seems to have worked.
I do have a couple on my face from childhood; I'm in my 40s now. They have faded over the years, but still there. I had a very severe case of CP when I was 10. Sunblock as we know it now didn't even exist back then.
