This might be no great solution to this problem, but I thought I would ask anyways since many of you seem to have lots of experience. I would like to give my boy more diaper free time, but I just don't know how to manage the fluids--specifically pee. I usually have diaper free time only when I am nursing because I am watching him like a hawk and can prevent the pee from getting all over the place. As he is only 5 weeks old, he only hangs out in a few different places during the day-- my arms, a sling, his bouncy chair occasionally, a moses basket. I haven't deciphered his pee pattern yet except to say that he seems to pee at every moment. I usually feel the wet before I see it even when i am looking right at him.
I'm looking for suggestions about how to manage this while he is having diaper free time without having to look at him every minute and without having to put a new prefold under him every 5 minutes. I'm actually less concerned about the poop because you can hear that event from the next room usually.
I considered making a sleeping bag type thing out of two prefolds.
