I had a great Iowa midwifery meeting today and got some acupressure and massage. One of the midwives strongly suggested nipple stim, so I'm doing some of that tonight. Whatever, I don't think this baby is ever coming, but it gives me something to do...

Mymary, I can't believe your midwife would want you to try castor oil just one day after your due date!!

As far as the whole "due date" thing, has anyone seen this study:

Hopefully it might make some of us "overdue" ones feel better, not worse. i think it's always better to think you'll go longer than you actually do.

I'm getting lots of intense braxton hicks, especially in the evenings. I can feel my cervix being affected by them, but they are never regular and always eventually peter out. I've woken up the last few mornings a little surprised.. "what? no baby?" <peers underneath covers>

I noticed the half moon when we were out yesterday afternoon. I Do Not Want to wait until next weekend. I am already 40+6. DS was born at 41+3, and I was so sure this baby would come before that...

I love reading all the birth announcements and seeing photos. Sigh. But I want my baby, too. Whine whine whine.

OK, it's 5:30 in the morning... Blood sugar needs satisfied. I should get some more sleep before my DS gets up for the day.

I wake up about 5:30am most days, too, just because I have to pee and then I am STARVING!

I guess I should go to bed now. It's late, dh is snoozing on the couch, and I am clearly not having a baby tonight.

Yep... I am up early too...

DH leaves for work just before 6am and I woke up with him this morning... he was really hoping that I would ask him to stay because he was really not wanting to go back to work after the weekend... he is getting tired of all the questions from co-workers...

I had tons of contrax on Friday night, regular and strong, but they fizzled out at around midnight and then just tons of BH the rest of the weekend... I hate prodromal labour!! I had 3-4 weeks of it with DS#1 and #3 and it is just so tiring... but it makes me have the feeling that this babe will come at 42 weeks like them...

of course then I get visions of the whole pregnancy just being a figure of my imagination or that I just have a big tumour that moves or something...

Well, DD slept for 2 4-hour stretches! That's impressive, and I'll take it. I, of course, didn't fall asleep for more than 2 hours after I went to bed (heartburn, naseau, can't get comfy, finally get comfy then I need to pee, the baby decides to have a dance party, etc). Then I got up every couple of hours to pee.

It does seem that one night of decent sleep made her cough move deeper into her chest, so she's not coughing stuff up she's just rattling. Less good.

I have decided to be zen while waiting for baby. I'm not in pain, so that's something to be thankful for. DD is sick and needs me right now. I'm going to enjoy spending time with her and enjoy what will very likely be my last pregnancy. Time to stop whining.

There. Now we'll see how long i stick to this resolution Anyone have a stopwatch? lol

Aw, I wish you'd have been there so I could have met you! There will be another meeting in Feb although it might be in Iowa City. We're trying to mix up locations.

No, that crap is annoying.

I'm in this DDC but I haven't posted much. I'm due 1/30 or 2/1 depending on which calculator you use. This is my third pregnancy and I've had premature labor issues with all of them, and my second was born at 35 weeks, so I never would have guessed I'd make it this far.

I thought I was going into labor early Friday morning, so called the midwives (who live 1.5-2.5 hours away - I guess I called too early in the process, but I really wanted them to be here). They ended up staying 24 hours, but it all just eventually fizzled out.

I tried all the stuff to keep labor going but nothing worked. It seems so ironic after all these months of avoiding sex and exercise in order to STOP contractions that those very things did nothing to get the baby out. I'm not necessarily in a hurry to have the baby, I'm just afraid that when I do go into labor now the midwives aren't going to make it, since I'm now walking around at 5 cm with a super low baby. Oh well, it is nice to enjoy being a normal pregnant lady after all the premature labor stuff.

So yeah, just bumping around my house having irregular contractions and not sleeping like the rest of you .

Hmm!

I think I may be in early labor. Contractions are strongish (not painful but more intense than they had been). They've spaced out since DD woke up from her nap, but I am optimistic that this could turn into the Real Thing at some point this evening/overnight.

I'm 5 days past my EDD... no reason this COULDN'T be it... and they keep coming even if they're 20 min apart......... send me some !

good luck to you, Lauren! It's certainly not going to be me posting a birth announcement tomorrow. DH is hoping for tomorrow, so he won't have to go back to work on Wednesday, as am I since I don't know how I will deal on my own if he ends up back at work this week. I dunno what's up, but i just felt off today. I felt a few really good BH's that put some good downward pressure on baby, but mostly nothing, and I feel icky in my tummy.

However, I did manage to get a hold of my friend who does pics and took my maternity pics, better late than never, although my tummy is HUGE.

Now I am going to bed and hope to wake up in labor....*sigh*

Well... it is 3am here and I woke up an hour ago with bloody show and a slow leak... not much of a leak but it is pink tinged so I know that it is that..

I had a few contrax last night but not much since... so I am not sure how this is going to play out... all I know is that I can't sleep now...

I'm 11 days past my EDD, it's 4am and I'm awake. Booooo. I've had some cramping off & on since yesterday morning. I had a few sporadic painful contractions yesterday evening. Unfortunately laying in bed is really uncomfortable to me. I'm really tired and I know I need to get some good sleep but it's just really uncomfortable. I'm camping out in a recliner for now. I wish I could pause time so I could get several hours of great sleep. I'm starting to get nervous about labor. I just want my body to feel rested and ready for the job it needs to do.
