For those of you nursing in the Ergo with infants, how?

For those of you who are nursing your infants in the Ergo, how exactly are you doing it?

I've got an 8-week old just kind of froggied in, we're not using the infant insert, and I've tried a few things, but it always feels so awkward. Tips? Techniques?

Are you loosening the shoulder straps to put some slack in and lower baby down? The right position for carrying a baby in tummy to tummy with legs froggied in is usually going to be much higher than the position for nursing. I would just try loosening up the shoulder straps and lowering baby to breast level. It's easiest with a nursing shirt or a button-front shirt with nursing tank underneath so you can get easy access to the breast from the top. I like to nurse baby in an upright position -- especially with a two-shoulder carrier, it's just not really feasible to try nursing in a cradle/lying down position.

HTH!

I do froggied with no infant insert too.
I sort of just did it once while out shopping. He was 4 weeks. He woke up hungry so I ducked down an empty aisle, pulled my breast up over my tank and got him on and put up the hood. I have larger ones so I had to hold onto it with one hand but it worked great. My husband was concerned about me showing a little side boob but I'm not sure I even was. Can't wait for my nursing clothes to arrive.

i agree with the other women. I have found that it gets really pretty easy when you get accustomed... i nurse every where! It's easiest if you loosen the straps a little bit (especially as the baby gets older... my 1 year old still nurses in it). And wearing a lower-cut or nursing shirt will help because you just unstrap the nursing bra, pull down the shirt, and voila!

I recommend trying at home before trying in the grocery store, but you will get the hang of it!!! And it's really nice to be able to be walking down the store and nursing--and no one even knows!!!
