Question on Strep throat contagiousness ?

I was wondering since I'm around my son who was diagnosed with Strep Throat on Wednesday . His sickness began on a week ago from Thursday but took almost a week to diagnosis which he got on his antibiotics on Wednesday so that means he was contagious for up to 6 days .

So If I as an adult don't have a 'fever' by now would that mean I wouldn't get 'strep throat from him ?

Does fever usually always play in roles of strep throat even with adults ?

I believe that the strep bacteria are carried by most of us most of the time -- what I mean is, you almost certainly already have them but your immune system is keeping them in check. It's not very contagious as a severe illness, therefore.

hope that makes sense.

I got it from my student's twice last year. And yes, it presented with a fever of over 103 the first time, the second time I caught it sooner so the fever never got that high.

The most unfair part is that the kids are usually up and running again the day after starting antibiotics, while it took me a full 5 days to even feel semi human again

I hope you don't get it and that your LO is better soon
