What does your potty trained 2yo wear to bed?

My daughter just turned two and is out of diapers. She sleeps on a double mattress on the floor. She rarely wakes and needs to pee in the night. I'm finding it awkward to dress her - for warmth she wears a cotton snap-crotch long sleeved onesie underneath fleece zip-up footed pajamas. And because I don't think I'd like to wear snaps against my crotch, she wears underwear under all that. It seems a bit cumbersome. She just recently started sleeping with a blanket instead of a sleeping bag and she's doing ok at not rolling around all over the place. Soon she will outgrow the fleece pjs and I'll need something new.

What do you do? What stays in place? Does your child wear underwear to bed?

Micah wears underwear (Gerber) and pajamas...either a zippered, footed pair or pants and shirt style. It isn't too cold here though...

DS wears jammies and underwear to bed

No underwear.

Its good for genitals to breathe.

DD wears whatever she likes; footed sleepers, two piece jammies, big sleeping shirts, or nude.

But no undies. Just thinking about enforcing sleeping with underwear gives me the willies.

mine just turned 3 but yep since I got rid of the dipes at night, she wears underwear. She wears 2 piece long sleeved pants jammies and warm blanket. they make heavier material ones even DS (14 months) has a 2 piece set of Gap jammies i got somewhere used that are a warm material. (he bedshares with us though so he's plenty warm besides them)

The "no undies" thing at night is way overrated. Every child I've every babysat (tons) wore underwear, I wear underwear, my kids wear underwear. The kids wear two piece pajamas (usually Gymboree Gymmies) and underwear.

My DD has to wear underwear at night. We tried without because she preferred it, but after spending an entire week not sleeping well because I kept waking to a toddler butt smashed in my face...we decided undies at night could be a good thing.

Also, she likes to sleep in just plain cotton PJ's, no pants during the warmer months, and she finds that our cats' fur gets all over her...down there. Now she wants to wear panties so that she doesn't wake up with fuzz and fur stuck to her.

I'm surprised by how many kids wear underwear to bed! No one does in our house, it's a comfort issue. My 3 year old still pees A LOT at night so she wears a diaper and then Hanna Anderson cotton jammies, We are Colorado so not a tropical climate, I just pile the blankets on at night.

DD is 2.5 years old. She wears a pull-up type of "nighttime panty" (she is adamant that she is a little girl who wears panties!). Her jammies consist of a cotton two-piece set (Gymboree, Carter's or HA). She has been wearing a fleece sleep sack (with little openings for her feet) and a light blanket. But, I am in the process of getting some additional bedding for her (a throw sized blanket and small pillow). Once she is out of "nighttime panties," she will be able to sleep in just her jammies (and no panties).

Overrated? How so?

Two piece jammies usually, sometimes one piece with a zipper. Definitely no underwear.

How about getting her a longer nightgown to wear over jammie pants instead of the snap crotch thing?

Thanks to co-sleeping, Lina's usually nude in bed and actively kicking the covers off herself.

My oldest refused to wear clothes in the house until she was three. So naked in bed after she potty trained. Dd2 is going the same way. She is naked at home and wears a diaper to bed.

But you're ok making them wear undies during the day?

We do just panties and pj's around here.

I don't really get the strong feelings either way...Micah wears them, but if he didn't want to, I would be good with that. What makes undies either a necessary thing or a "bad" (can't think of a better word...) thing??

No. I don't my daughter wear panties during the either. Encourage it? Yes. Enforce it? No.

But the thing is, the last thing I would personally want is restrictive anything on my body for the eight hours I am relaxing in bed. Why would I push elastic for DD?

Personally, I think its ridiculous to sleep in underwear. That's my opinion.

BUT besides my opinion, is also healthier to have a period of breathing for vaginas, penises, and buttocks.

Ds wears baggy comfy shorts, and sometimes a t-shirt.

If its really cold (which is rare), he wears a light fleece or knit one peice zip up footie thing.

No underware to bed, its hard to find undies small enough for him so we only have a few pairs, no need to waste it at night!

I don't have strong feelings about it...if they wanted to wear undies they could, and if they didn't I wouldn't make them, day or night. I, personally, just think undies at night are uncomfortable, so I don't put them on the kids :

My 2.5yo Dd wears pullups at night, as she wakes up wet ~50% of the time still. She wears either a nightgown or 2 piece pj set. I suppose when she's done with the pullups she'll go underwear-less with pjs or nightgown. eta: whatever she's most comfortable in

Interesting...I had no idea people had such strong feelings about wearing (or not) wearing underwear to bed. We all do in our house...I've never thought not to. So DD wears panties and 2 piece PJs. I'm not into the zip up footed sleepers, way too difficult when you racing a toddler to the potty in the middle of the night.
