Moved to diapering.

At home we use cloth wipes with plain warm water - so much more effective than disposable wipes. Wash butt in the sink with baby soap if messy poo.

When out I sometimes use disposable wipes, which I rinse thoroughly with water to get out the chemicals before I use them on LO! :

My poorest little baby had the worst rash from the time he was a week old, nothing got rid of it. At two weeks we started using our cloth diapers and I had hopes that his rash would clear, but no. I bought too many diaper rash creams, still no luck. Finally I clued in to the fact that maybe it was the disposable wipes I was using (Pampers Sensitive). So I cut up two old flannel recieving blankets and got 60 or so wipes out of them. I tried using plain distilled water, still had the rash. Added vinegar, still had the rash. I tried a few other variations, but what killed the rash FINALLY was using GSE. I mix distilled water, a drop of baby bath and 2 dropperfuls of GSE in a peri bottle and spray over a stack of cloth wipes in an old plastic diaper wipe box. The persistent 5+ week rash has not returned since.

We use cloth with plain cold water most of the time. I have a small KK with a sport top in the diaper bag with water in it for when we're out. And if it's really gross I'll just stick his butt under the faucet, but most of the time I don't even bother with warm water anymore.

I used to use a homemade wipes solution. I would make a concentrate of half dr bronner, half olive oil, plus some lavender oil and GSE.

I would then full a bit Dr bronner bottle up with water and put maybe 2 tbs of the concentrate in it. It worked really well and was v handy to have right at the station.

BUT when we finally killed our yeasty rash problems after 13 mths (!!!!!) one of the things we did was stop using the solution and change to hot water only on the wipes. I don't notice any appreciable difference in the cleanliness of DD's bum. Hot water seems to be better than cold, though.

I wouldn't get a wipes warmer if I was using a homemade wipes solution because it could breed bacteria.

So when I change DD and go to her room, grab and wipe or two, wet it under the hot tap, then put her on the change table and change her.

We use LuSa Baby Wipe Juice. It has lavender and witchhazel in it (among other things) that are antibacterial, so maybe your DH will like that?

I know its fine to just use water with cloth wipes, but DH & I like this stuff a lot. It also smells sooooo nice, and makes DS smell great.

Its very concentrated, we actually use less to mix ours than it says too, so it makes WAY more than 2 gallons. Its pretty strong and thick before you mix it.
