chelated magnesium??

My kids and I always end up w/diarrhea on even the smallest amts of mag. We're fine for about 3 days but then the diarrhea starts up. I've tried citrate, glycinate, taurate (?).... you name it. Recently I came across albion labs chelated mag and found I can tolerate up to 600mg of this w/out a prob. Question is....does the body assimilate chelated minerals as well as it would non-chelated minerals? Am I really getting 600mg of mag?

Usually it will say on the bottle, ie (from dd's mag glycinate from Kirkman Labs),
Magnesium glycinate 997 mg
Elemental magnesium 182 mg

So you would be getting 182 mg mag.

BTW, I am pretty sure that Albion Labs chelated mag is magnesium glycinate. Actually, I am sure that just about all their mineral products are glycinate chelates.

I have heard, and found true in my own experience, that low mag bowel tolerance often means you need to up your calcium intake.

Thanks for your input! You're right! It is mag glycinate....how come I don't have a prob w/this? I was taking kirkman's w/my kids and experiencing diarrhea but I threw out the bottle because I found out that kirkman's was recalling the powdered mag because it was contaminated w/antimony Maybe there's something special about being "fully chelated"? AND you're right I probably need more CA!

Thanks again!
