one of my favorite books as a child!

she was lovably absent minded and naive, when asked in a recipe to separate eggs, she put them on opposite sides of the counter!

however, I do not see many people outside of our age even having a clue of those books. They WILL always know about her original namesake however, and what a brave and strong woman she was!

i would probably pronounce it ah-na-leese or anna-leese my first time looking at it, but i think you are going to have to correct people on pronunciation no matter what and that is not a big deal at all. anneliese is a BEAUTIFUL name and i love it, and i absolutely agree with LZP that you shouldn't have to dumb down the spelling for other people's sakes.

my daughter's name is maya, like maya angelou, and you have no idea how many people pronounce it MAY-a (may like the month) or even MEE-a (wtf?). here i thought maya would be a nice, easy name for everyone to say, unlike my name which is RIDICULOUS, and nope, people are still just silly. =) so forget how other people might pronounce it or view it, because there will ALWAYS be people who will mispronounce it and people who will hate it. what really matters is how you guys feel about it and how it fits her.

i think anneliese ruby jeffrey and anneliese lynn jeffrey are both beautiful.

Thanks for the thoughts... It is true though, as long as the baby knows her name then that is all that matters, right? I have a problem with people spelling my name, LAUREN! It's a little ridiculous. I was thinking- do you like the name Leah? I love it so much but then wonder is it kinda boring? Leah Anneliese? Leah Ruby? I think that is why I like Amelia so much, bc then I can call her Lia from the get go and when she is older she can decide whether to go by Amelia or Lia. hmmmmmm....

Hi Lauren!

I voted for #1 - Adelynn Ruby. I just like it! And it really honors your Mom, which is something you were hoping to do.

I also like Anneliese Ruby... but as so many have said, it will get mispronounced, and being longer, she may end up with a nickname that you don't care for at some point. DD has a friend in her class and its pronounced "Anne-uh-leese".

(Oh, and I just saw your last post... I do really like the name Leah. My best friend my entire childhood was a Leah - we are six months apart and grew up together. If you go with that, I like Leah Anneliese.)

I hope you can figure it out! So excited that she's coming SOON!!!!!
