Back to school for the first time in five years!

Just wanted to share my excitement of going to school! Everything is working out perfectly and I'm just that excited. Now to manage school/work/kids/dh.

I am enrolled in two online courses so that we can limit the time I'm out of the house and we'd need to worry about who's watching the kids vs. nobody can work. I'm a bit overwhelmed with the idea of online classes, but excited nonetheless.
Any ideas to managing online courses would be greatly appreciated.

Anyways, thanks for listening to me be a dork.

Congratulations! That's really exciting.

Online classes are deceptive, because they're easy to forget about! You'll be fine as long as you remember to check in with the class, deadlines, and any online discussions at least once or twice a week. Set up an email reminder or something of the sort if you know you're prone to forgetting.

But most of all, enjoy it! School is awesome, and if you budget your time right you won't get too overwhelmed. Have fun!

I started an online program last semester, and one of the discussions was about how the format did or didn't work for us. Some students found that it was very hard to keep up with their work without the physical deadline of attending class. They also missed the face-to-face interaction. A few of them talked about switching to at least some on-campus courses.

I loved the format and am glad I can continue in it for all of my classes. It helped that I made myself a schedule and mostly stuck to it: readings on Sunday and Monday, initial discussion post on Monday or Tuesday, start weekly writing assignment on Tuesday, turn in Thursday or Friday. I also tried to check the discussion and add something each day. This was more dependent on my classmates, and occasionally there were no new threads to comment on for a couple days. Even doing a little bit each day, I spent a little less than the recommended time on my coursework. My schedule also built in some leeway for the weeks when I had a lot of other stuff going on.

I am taking two courses on campus as well, so I won't miss face/face interaction. I'm also still working per diem at my job.

I was thinking about a MWF "schedule", I have a class on Monday and two on Wednesday. There is an hour break between the two, so I figured that'd be a good time for discussion posts or reading. DH will be home on Monday's mostly so that's also a good time for tasks requiring lots of concentration. He can take the kids outside or entertain them at least. Maybe I can run out to the coffee shop or something those nights.
