Weaned, but a funny new habit??

My son weaned about the week or so after I got pregnant with our third. I wasn't surprised as he had been showing signs of self weaning. But now a weird little habit has come into my nights (as we still bed share/cosleep.) He will occassionally reach into my shirt and hold my breast or nipple sometimes I have to move his hand because his grip will tighten rather painfully, but I know it's him being asleep. Anyone else? I know sometimes nursing LO's will play with one nipple while nursing from the other, just didn't know if it was normal after they stopped???

My son didn't CLW (I weaned him at 3 1/2 years) but he did the same thing except awake. I think it's just a comfort thing. I couldn't stand having him touch them, so I told him he could rub my belly if he needed to. He did that for probably 6 or more months before he gave that up too.

I know he's asleep, but maybe you could try that? Re-direct him to your belly and see if that satisfies him.

My 2 yr old ds isn't weaned yet, but he's picked up the same habit. Jamming his hand down my shirt to rest it between my boobs. It usually comforts him as much, or more, than nursing itself. Only bothers me when his hads are chilly. Yowza!
