Night time peeing "phase" won't end....

DS is almost 2.5 y/o. He's been potty trained (completely dry daily and nightly) since about 10 mo. We ECed him from about 5 or 6 mo. About 3 months ago, he started peeing in his bed 5 out of 7 nights a week. We'd decided to talk about it matter-of-factly, but of course never negatively--except to say things like, "oh, that must be uncomfortable to be wet in your bed. You should wake up and run run run to the potty..." or something...

I assume this is not the way we should've handled it...? What do you think? What should we do?

About twice ever he's peed during naptime and been incredibly surprised. In other words, I don't think the need to and the action of peeing even stirs him while sleeping at all....

Sounds like that deep sleep can't be interrupted. Have you tried limiting fluids after a certain time. How about getting him up to pee right before you go to bed?

My ds is almost 5, and he has never been dry at night, not even once. He still wears a pullup at night. My pedi said that it's not something that can be taught. She said that it's often genetic--if one parent wet the bed as a kid, chances are the child will too. She said it will happen eventually, and that you can work on it by limiting fluids after 5pm and waking your child up in the middle of the night to pee, but some kids just can't stay dry until they're 6 or 7. Good luck.

Cucumber? Melons? I'm guaranteed to have to get up a few times to take her to pee if she eats those.
