Please help me figure out what carrier to get

Hi,
My ds is 13 weeks old and about 13lbs. I have a fitted sling that I have been using to carry him around, but lately he seems squished and cries and acts like he hates it in there. I am small...about 5'4" and 125lbs so part of me thinks that my small size makes the carrier squished as it can only go as wide as I am. Also, I live in MI and the only way I can wear this sling is if I go without a coat or heavy sweater as I can't make the carrier any bigger. So I can't go outside with the carrier because I will FREEZE.
I was thinking about getting a Moby because ds likes to be carried parallel with my body and I think this carrier would let me do that and it is also very adjustable so it could go over sweaters and such. I can't afford to buy a bunch of different carriers so I thought I would get a bit of advice. What do you think? I also like the idea of a mei tei, but I don't think he is old enough for that yet.

You might want to skip the Moby since most people don't use them must past 5-6 months. If you're open to wrapping, you should look into getting a woven wrap. They take a little more work to master than a stretch wrap, but it will last you a long time and allow you to do the most carries. Otherwise, there are a ton of other options out there for you, depending on what you are looking for.

I'm about exactly your size, and in WI, so I know where you're coming from. I use woven wraps, or a MT would be a good choice as well. Ring slings work, too -- my 3.5mo loves to be upright in a ringsling-style carry with a short woven wrap.

The issue you might have when looking at SSCs or even MTs is that often the straps will not go small enough. You may need to order something marked 'petite' if you go that route. That's why I love wraps -- one size fits all! (for the most part)

I've worn my daughter in a mei tai since birth- just froggy the legs inside and tie it snug. I think it would be a good choice for you!
