What's in your diaper bag?

Thread Starter
I'm loving this thread on DS so I thought I'd start it over here too!

Here's mine:
I wanted this diaper bag but didn't want to pay $70. Eventually, I realized that their large yoga bag was almost identical to the diaper bag, so I bought the color on clearance for $35!

My bag:

There is a pocket on each side of the shoulder strap. The left pocket has a pacifier (though DD doesn't take it anyway), the right pocket has hand sanitizer and gum (that may not be the best combination). The pocket on the flap keeps my chapstick.

Some stuff

There's a front, small, zipper pocket that has an extra snappi, then a large pocket for my wallet (it matches the diaper bag!) and nursing cover, then a large zippered pocket where I store extra wet bags and wet dipes. Next is the main compartment with small mesh pockets, and the back slot for the changing pad.

More stuff

Inside the main pocket today I ad 3 BG AIO OS dipes, my canvas 'extras' bag, wet wipes, and Bum Bum Balm.

always more stuff

There you have it!

I showed you mine, will you show me yours??

The main pocket houses diapers & wipes & wet bag - bum genius 2.0 & 3.0s, usually 3-5 of each, also usually one spare set of clothes for both DS1 & DS2. The side pocket section has my camera, some toy cars & crayons & some old menstraul pads & tampons. One end pocket has my changing mat and the other DS1's water bottle, usually. Thats about it... the other side flap is pretty random - magazine, book or other tooys usually I'm really hoping to be able to seriously downsize here shortly once DS1 is fully potty trained... he's been doing really good this week!!

chamomile girl - which size cargo tote do you use?
'my part'
sunglasses
wallet
phone
hand sanitizer
chapstick
Kleenex
water bottle

'ds' part'
2-3 diapers
wipes (I'm lazy we do dispoables when out)
a clean onsie
a book
a teething toy
changing pad (sometimes.... Depends on where we are going)

I hate bulky bags and try to carry as little as possible... We use a monogrmmed tote from restoration hardware baby (a shower gift )

If it just DD and I:

2 diapers (whatever is clean and ready)
Wipes
Nursing Cover (rarely gets used)
Extra set of clothes
Burp Cloth
1-2 Toys
Wet Bag
Changing Pad
Wallet
Cell Phone
Keys
Hand Sanitizer

If I also have DS with me I throw in an extra diaper for him and a sippy cup.

I have an over the shoulder diaper bag that I am using right now just because it is easier to carry and it's nice and small.

I use comfrey root and calendula flowers infused into olive oil/beeswax. When its pretty cool I add my EO's (usually lavender and blue chamomile...sometimes tea tree) and vit E. If I'm feeling fancy than shea butter or cocoa butter too.

good to know. i have a medium one that i used to use for school. may start using it for a diaper bag, since i tend to travel heavy. my current bag is tiny & i often leave extra diapers in the car, if i take more than 3 or so.

My bag was a medium size Target clearance canvas bag with 2 larger and 2 tiny outside compartments and 1 big compartment.

In the main compartment:

2-4 fitted/prefitted diapers for DD2
1 extra wool cover
1 premium prefold - used as changing pad, burb cloth, etc
a plastic zipper bag with cloth wet wipes and an extra snappi
a full change of clothes for DD1 and one for DD2 in a gallon size ziplock
a wet bag
sometimes I add a blanket

In the 4 outside pockets:

a small zipper "first aid bag" with - Hyland's bumps and bruises, teething tabs, and colic tabs; neosporin, and hydrocortizone. There might be 1-2 other things in it. When needed I keep extra nursing pads and a mama pad in there too.

a wallet with the standard nonessential cards and such (in my back pocket are the essentials - my DL, library card, bank card, and punch card for a kid's resale store, as well as cash on the rare occasion I have any) I also carry my phone and keys in my pockets.

a sippy cup of water for DD1

various snacks for DD1 and me - fruit strips, granola bars, a cutie satsuma or two, a small apple, ziploc bag with pretzels, etc - sometimes well stocked sometimes nearly gone

If I'm being good, my water bottle too

a pen or two

a random 1-2 cloth grocery bags (chico or envirosac)

often a toy or two for DD1 (usually 1-2 small "little monkeys" or a couple of schleich animals, perhaps a small board book)

sometimes a toy for DD2

I also always have a sling, but it's rarely IN the diaper bag. When we're in the car it's on DD2's feet - hard to forget that way. Then, of course, I put it on and pop her in as I take her out of the car. If she gets out to play while we're out, then I'll stick it in the bag.

I'll play.

Always:
Diapers: 2 inserts and 1 extra shell
1 small zippered wetbag
baggie of cloth wipes
pack of disposable wipes (in case no water available for changes)
a few extra ziplocs for any trash
1-2 burp cloths (Gerber flats actually)
1-2 fluffy Thirsties wipes for drool
small bottle of hand sanitizer clipped to the shoulder strap

Sometimes:
PUL-backed terry change pad
set of extra clothes in case (I've never actually needed them)
2 sposies and a couple of Chux (rare occasions)
assorted toys (to hand to DD one by one when we drive places)
ziploc with an avocado or a jar of baby food, and a spoon
my wallet, phone, and keys
water bottle

I use a Vera Bradley Cargo bag (an older style that's been discontinued, I got it on ebay for a steal).

Me:

lotion
lip balm
hand sanitizer
a handful of bandaids
dental floss
hair brush and ties
travel tube of Motrin
a couple pens
cell phone
wallet
keys
water bottle

Dd2:

diapers (I use sposies for trips)
travel pack of sposie wipes
change of clothes
a couple paci's
toddler size prefold for a changing pad
a couple burp rags
a couple gallon ziplocs for dirty clothes
Moby Wrap will fit in a pinch, but it's tight!

Dd1 (when we're going somewhere with a longish wait, like the dr's):

small book
snack
bottle of juice

I'm continually amazed with how much stuff that bag holds!

We like to keep it as simple as possible. I carry around a tote that contains:
-nursing cover (great for minimizing distractions)
-burp cloth
-CPR mask/first aid kit
-couple lunapads (my period is sure to come back one of these years)
-toy or 2
-grab bag for diapering (We EC, so all diapering generally happens in a toilet stall so I can offer the potty. It's nice to not have to bring everything into the bathroom.)

Grab bag contains:
-2 prefolds
-1 cover
-2 cloth wipes
-1 change of clothes (I probably need to change that out. I think she's outgrown the one I have in there.
-peri bottle full of water to wet cloth wipes
-wet bag

I have to say that I have never been as organized as you ladies! I am so jealous! Usually I just stick a couple cloth diapers and wipes in a ziplock bag and throw it in the car or in one of my canvas grocery bags. You would think that after doing this for over 2 years now I would get the hang of using a diaper bag!

Okay - truth time - I so often forget to bring diapers with me that I have a secret stash of them in the car. DH wonders why I wash diapers every night when we *should* have enough to go 2 days in between washings... hmm...

I use a hippie sack bag that I found at a festival. It fits a fleece blanket that I use for everything, a toy, my small purse, and a little bag filled with diapers (we use sposies outside the house), wipes, an emergency outfit, emergency ziplock baggies and hand sanitizer.
I use a small hand made messenger bag that's usually pretty empty.

Normal contents:
1-2 diapers
small wet bag
chap stick
cell phone
check book
debit card/ID
some change
a small teething toy
extra baby socks (he pulls them off the first chance he gets)
baby hat
wash rag

And I always have a blanket or two and a spare onesie in my car.

I don't carry wipes because DS never poops away from home.

If I am just running to the grocery store or a mommy and me class, I just toss a fuzzibunz, wetbag, container of wet wipes, and a burp cloth into my purse. Since we usually are just gone for one hour, maybe two tops, I rarely have to change her while we are out. She also has some toys and books that stay in the car or her car seat. I have been thinking that I am going to be in trouble one day if she decides to poop twice while we are out. I should probably put an extra diaper somewhere in the car, and maybe a change of clothes. If we are going to be gone longer, like to a friends house or multiple stores, I have an actual diaper bag that I pack, but I do not use it on a daily basis.
