What do I still need for a newborn???

So I'm not sure that we will start CDing from day 1...probably about a week or 2. I generally have small babies (under 8 lbs). I know I need to prepare for like a dozen changes a day, but does that mean a dozen covers???

Here is what I have...

3 baby snappis

Newborn:
8 fitteds
14 prefolds
1 AIO
5 covers
1 wool longie

Small:
1 Fitted
12 prefolds
1 pocket
4 covers
(OK, I obviously need more smalls, BUT I also have about 10 One Size pockets...will they really fit OK as smalls???)

I also have a pkg of gerber cloth daipers (10)

TIA!!!

For the NB stage I'd try to eaither add another dozen prefolds or like 6 more fitted or AIOs look good on covers ect...

Definitely need more smalls - and with that NB stash, you're probably going to be doing laundry daily or every day and a half, you realize? Hopefully you have a separate stash of burp cloths so you're not reaching for prefolds for that, or that will also affect your count.

As for the OS - that's hard to say... my 4 mo is still in smalls (and a few meds), but I have some OS dipes and they fit great, but the smalls are a little short in the rise on him (he has plumber's crack in some of them), but some of them still fit on the smallest setting around the waist. Covers I have to size up to fit over the OS, and my longies have to have an extra long rise to cover them at this point, but that will change with time. But, 2 months ago, when he first moved into smalls, I doubt the OS dipes would have fit him. But he's not a roly-poly baby, I have a bean pole, so he was wearing some NB dipes well into his 3rd month.

My point being it depends on the baby AND the diaper whether or not it will work for you when babe is a size SM.

For newborn you can always fold down the back of the infant pf's to fit, that's what I did with my kiddos and it wasn't bulky or anything. That would be enough to wash every other day for the newborn stage. I would recommend more smalls, as you already know. Most OS dipes start to fit around 10 or so pounds depending on baby's shape. Another dozen pf's for the small infant stage would be effiecient. I like to have 5-6 covers at any given time too, just in case

I think you need more PFs - I would get at least a doz more of the infant size. We actually used the them sideways for the first while because fodling down the rise that much was insane!

I think you def have enough covers, esp if you're going to be snappi-ing. If you plan on trifolding, then you'll have to wash the covers mroe frequently, so I'd get more.

I would also get a variety of different brands of pocket. HHs and Blueberrys didn't fit DD well - only BG work. I just sold or traded them on DS.
