Checking in to see how everyone is doing now that babies are 6 months

DS is doing really well. Is really good with sitting up unsupported. Still has no desire to roll over or do anything remotely resembling crawling. He is 19 lbs. We haven't started solids yet. May wait a month or 2, depending on his interest level & my motivation. Charlie seems to be getting more wary of strangers & new places with lots of people & noise. The whole fall asleep in the car & waking up someplace strange is disorienting, i imagine. He is getting very interested in our cats, toys & everything within his reach & gaze.

We're doing great. Josephine just started sitting up by herself, really, I think it was two days ago! It's so weird/wonderful to see her change all the time.


She is also babbling-yelling-skreeching, which is funny. She just looks so excited when she's making those noises. We are flying to Florida this week to see my inlaws and I wonder how other plane passangers will react to that!

I was telling my husband today that it's amazing how much she just seems to love life. In the morning she is just happy to be awake. It's a nice reminder for me.

Graysen is about to turn 7 months old tomorrow and she has just started sitting up in the last 3 weeks. In general, she is such a happy, laid back baby. She is now 16lbs and has just started solids in the last couple of weeks. I was hoping to wait a little bit longer, but she was literally pulling the food off my plate or out of my hands.

Ha! This is pretty much my son as well! Getting good at sitting, no desire to roll or crawl. He prefers to be in arms and freaks if I put him down most days. No interest in the solid foods, either. I plan to wait as long as possible for that. Asher also loves Kitty!

Hi everyone,

DD will be 7 months old next week. She sits up well, but also has no interest in crawling yet (and doesn't like being on her tummy). Will roll from tummy to back / back to tummy occasionally.

She was an early teether (her 3rd tooth just broke through), so I started her on solids about a month ago. She was VERY interested in what we were eating and was always grabbing at our food!

She's 18 lbs and 27" long, which seems big to me...but the doctor just says I have an extremely healthy baby. I guess breast milk really IS liquid gold!

DD is sitting up all by herself, and wants to practice standing all.day.long. Oiye! She rolls tummy to back but has no interest in rolling back to tummy. Zero interest in crawling yet, she'd much rather stand.

It seems like we're going through a bit of a sleep regression right now. She's gone from getting up 2-3 times a night to eat to 5-6 times a night. That's really frustrating, but I hope things level back out soon.

No teeth yet. Seems like she's been teething forever. Getting an amber teething necklace has helped a ton. Although, some night we do have to resort to Tylenol or Mortin.

My DS will be 7 months in 3 days.

Sitting-
He is doing great with sitting. He sits unsupported without falling unless something catches his eye that is within reach behind him then he'll reach for it and either fall or stop him from reaching.

Rolling-
He's been rolling both ways for a long time, although now we have wood floor and he's hesitant to roll from his tummy to his back because he hates hitting his head on anything.

Crawling-
This is exciting. He just started to scoot forward on a few days ago. He drags himself across the floor with his knees or toes to help. He doesn't lift up his belly to crawl although he does lift it up at other times.

Pulling up-
He keeps trying to climb on things. He'll grab onto stuff and try to lift his body up. With help he can get up, without help he's lifted his butt off the ground. He started this before crawling and I wondered if he would skip crawling.

Teething/solids-
No teeth yet. I'm still praying for teeth at 12 months . He does enjoy solid foods, we started at 6 months, but I'm often too lazy to make food and feed him, so he gets mostly breast milk.

Talking-
Nothing but varying pitches of squeals and squeaks. No babbling.

Sleeping-
Horrible. The past two weeks are the first two weeks I've been able to get him to sleep before midnight. He's waking up every 2.5hrs for food. It's just he is so energetic during the day that I can't get him to settle down to eat, so at night when he's tired, he'll eat. I'm a tired mommy, but we're working on it.

Wow, everyone's babies are getting so active! DD just turned 6 months and is still a little peanut - not sure of her weight but guessing its around 13 or 14 lbs. She is not sitting up on her own yet, but does well with a bit of support. She is starting to get happier and we are having some really good moments mixed in with the insanity!! We are giving BLW a try and so far she LOVES banana and steamed zucchini sticks. I have to say that it is really hard to resist 'helping' her eat but she is doing just fine on her own - in fact, she absolutely loves mealtime!

Having 2 little ones has really been hard for me. I have had some health issues lately and have been feeling so out of sorts. This has been one tough winter! DS is starting to get a little rambunctious - I think we all have a serious case of cabin fever.

So what is everyone loving the best about this age? I have to say that I love to see DDs look of satisfaction when she actually accomplishes something - like getting food (or a foot, toy, etc...) in her mouth or she sees something she wants and can reach for it and pick it up on her own. She is so proud and so am I!!

Yay! Its good to hear about all you July 09 mamas and babes!

DS has been the babble king for the past few weeks and is getting so close to crawling. But who knows, it could be another month? He gets up on hands and knees and pushes backward or else tries to drag himself forward but ends up in airplane. He loves to stand. In fact that is one tool we use to calm him down if he is upset. He can stand leaning on the couch or us or a table but it will be a little while before he walks. He is the happiest little guy which makes up for his frequent night wakings- hopefully we will get those under control soon. He has silent reflux and is currently seeing a CST and a chiro, but the healing process is slow: two steps forward, one back.

He has been sitting unsupported since about 5 months and we have been doing some solids here and there since he is sooo interested and loving pear and avocado. He is still 99.99% breastfed though. My favorite part of this age has been watching him interact with his surroundings- mostly other people, pets, kids- he's a little person now!

Has anyone else's LOs started to become a little more clingy/have some separation anxiety? He does not like me out of his sight. If I am in his sight- he wants me looking at him! It makes it difficult to get much done. Oh well, small price to pay for such a precious little man!

We just started swim class and we are loving it!

My kid is awesome! He is going to be seven months on Friday...I can't believe it!

The last month was rather tough because he has been teething. He now has four teeth..two on the bottom two on top. The top two look like they are going to have a big gap between them, which should be pretty cute. Unfortunately he wants to use his new teeth on EVERYTHING: toys, clothes, carseat, cats, boobies...ugh.

He wants to crawl sooo bad. He even tries to crawl in his sleep, and has been waking himself up because he ends up on his hands and knees...crying because he can't figure out how he got there. So until I go to bed with him he has been waking up about every half-hour to forty-five minutes .

He loves to go for walks outside, thank goodness. This gets me out of the house and is a sanity saver. And where I live the weather is not that bad so we can go out walking every day.

I've gotta say, he is super-cute. People stop me in the streets, people stare, people whisper kind of cute...although as he is my first this probably happens with all babies and I just don't know it! To be honest it kind of creeps me out.

I've noticed this too! Some days I can't even walk into the kitchen, in plan view of her playing spot on the floor, with out her freaking out. She's definitely getting more clingy... and just wants momma. It used to be that daddy was a good alternative, but not currently.

Yes, I have noticed that DD is becoming clingy and wanting me in sight at all times lately which is hard when I have to do something for DS or need to leave the room for a minute.

ack, six months!! anyone else feel like it's going by TOO fast?!

i'm having such a blast w/ dd, who was 6 mo last week (and is weighing in at 19 lbs and 27.5"). she is a ridiculous character. she babbles and screeches and laughs constantly. she's making mamama and dadada sounds, which is exciting (though they're surely just sounds at this point). the faces she's started making are hysterical. she wants to put everything in her mouth, especially her feet. she has been sitting up unassisted since she was 4 mo, but has zero interest in rolling over. she really wants to crawl (or walk... or fly...) she just wants to move, and gets super frustrated that she can't, but she's starting to figure out how to make it happen. she tolerates tummy time but really prefers to be sitting or standing. she needs to see what's going on all the time, especially if there's a cat or dog in the vicinity. we're starting to see some stranger anxiety but no sep anx....

we wanted to delay solids but grabby mcgoo over here had other ideas. she is a natural eater-- she can pick up small pieces and chews rather dramatically. sweet potato and hummus are her favorites. banana not so much. she still nurses a lot, though unfortunately mostly at night. I'm trying to get her to nurse more during the day b/c it certainly helps her (and me) sleep in longer stretches at night-- she's up every 45 min or so most nights.

Aww, we're 6-7 mos in now.

Let's see -

Sitting unsupported? Check.
Rolling both sides, back to front, and front to back? Check.
Pushing up on all fours and rocking back and forth? Check.
Babbling/screeching/growling/shrieking? Check.
Mouthing everything in sight? Check.
Separation anxiety? Check.
Standing while supported? Check.
Jumping/Bouncing while supported? Check.
More frequent night wakings and shorter naps? Check.

So far no teeth are in sight and we haven't started solids. Am I the only one a little sad about the end of exclusive bf?

oh-- so good to read the updates! I haven't checked in in forever.

Louisa is almost 8 months (born 5 weeks before my due date) now. She sounds about like most of the other babies here -- sitting, but not crawling yet, though she gets on her knees and really wants to. Night time sleep has suddenly been full of wakings. I really should be in bed already to try to get something like enough sleep.

We started giving her food last week, BLW, as we did with my older DD. Banana - she seems to like, but not the texture, and it is such a mess. Avocado, she didn't seem too into. She is actually doing best with apples.

She has 4 teeth. She is big for her age-- she was 20 pounds at 6 months and 29 inches. She has come a long way from being slightly preemie.

It is so amazing to me how different babies are. My older DD was very mellow and serious. Louisa is super social- one of those babies that tries to get everyone's attention and is always grinning at strangers.

It's starting to get really fun with the girls interacting more and more... though I am nervous about the crawling starting and the baby getting into older DDs stuff all of the time.....

Well, I guess I have the early mover in the bunch!

Elizabeth is 6.5 months and she is crawling (vid) and pulling up (on EVERYTHING!)(vid), and has even started climbing on top of things. She's just starting to cruise, but barely. She can get herself to sitting up at will and will play there forever. She just finally ventured off the rug (cold/slippy tile) and now she is EVERYWHERE! Time to babyproof.

She has two bottom teeth, and we're kind of doing baby led solids, with a puree here and there (really only pear - she hated everything else). She'll take a few bites, but she's not terribly interested.

She is almost 16 lbs. The easiest, happiest baby you will ever meet. She is just grins all the time!

Wow, how our babies have grown! I was just thinking yesterday that 1 year ago, most of us hadn't even had the 'big ultrasound' to find out boy/girl, for those of us that did.
DD is 6.5 mo, 17lbs and 25inches. She has gone in and out of the "6 month size" in the last 4 weeks!

Definitely gearing up to be an active little one. She got her 2 bottom teeth in early December and has since been working on two more bottom teeth that I expect to pop any day now.

We've started her on purees, to help ease the transition when I go back to work next month, she loves sweet potatoes and hates rice cereal!

She started 'sitting' just before Thanksgiving and my Dec 1st (4.5mo) sitting well enough to play without a crash pad behind her.

Her favorite activity is standing! She can balance against the couch, when in the sitting position and offered my index fingers, she will pull herself right up and take a couple of steps (did I say something about buying baby gates... amazon here I come!)

She is trying to crawl, she can get up on all four and scoot quite well, but looses her balance and then gets up on her stomach and does this thing where she flails around and sort of looks like a swimmer on land, I'll try to get a video, but when she sees the camera she stops and smiles

She loves to talk and yell and pretty much make any noise she can!

Such a joy! , I'm so glad I got to go through my pregnancy and those first few weeks with you ladies!

bajamergrrl- I was very sad as the day neared, but now that we've been doing solids for 1.5 months, I'm not so sad because he still nurses all the time. Solids only seem to be adding to his diet.

Sk8ermaiden- Wow, I think you baby wins the most active award. Those videos were impressive.

So we had our 6 month checkup yesterday and DD is only 12# 1 oz!! Anyone else with a tiny one??!! She seems so small compared to everyone's babes. She eats like crazy and is gaining weight so I am not worried, just shocked!

sk8ermaiden - that is one active baby you have! So awesome!!!
