Chewing motions in 4mo?

My lo is only 4months and EBF. But i swear it looks like he's chewing gum sometimes. I don't think he's copying us because he never seems interested in what we're doing at lunch or dinner. Anyone's pre-solid-food-baby also doing this? Is he getting ready to eat solids?

My 12 week old was studying my husband chew food the other day, and I believe he was imitating him. It was very funny
I've only noticed him doing it that one time though.
My son is also exclusively breast fed.

I can't remember if my dd did that and I know for sure my ds didn't, but I'm pregnant and have had a couple ultrasounds (had an issue they wanted to check out) and we caught the lil' guy making chewing motions in the womb. It was so cute!

So, in other words, I'd bet it's considered normal.

What i really want is someone to say: It means you must feed him solids right now!

I'm so eager and excited!!!

Nah, wait until he's a bit older. Can he sit up by himself? We started solids at 5 months because ds could sit up by himself and was actively trying to get our food at dinner time. Since he doesn't seem interested in what you're doing at dinner, then I'd say he isn't ready.

Also, I found starting solids to be a PITA. Just more work for mommy and more to clean up (I hate cleaning up the kitchen anyway!)
