My 1st cousin and his wife lost their 2 week old ds. He was born with a hole in his heart and they suspected he had downs but the blood results havnt came in yet. He was also supposedly born a month early but he weighed over 8pds.

He was doing great nursing like a champ and gaining weight until this past friday when he started having issues breathing. The dr. said he had fluid on his lungs and they took him to the hospital and he was admited and given meds to make him sleepy after that he wouldnt wake to nurse and he died Saturday morning.

They are doing an autopsy so not sure when services will be. I have never been to a childs funeral and hoped I never would have to go to one.

Rest well in the arms of the Lord little one

My heart goes out to you, your cousin, his wife and baby Ike.

We lost our son unexpectedly to a congenital heart defect, and like your cousin, we knew we had global issues (chromosomal stuff), but he ate well, was alert, making appropriate gains, making his death totally unexpected to us.

If at some point they are interested, I found a lot of strength from the birth loss forum. There are a lot of Moms there with term losses and a couple, that like your cousin and us, took our babies home and were looking forward to the future.

I am so sorry Ike, be at peace.
