This is the next line in my pattern

Knit one, yo to the end of the round (you have just doubled your stitches- 140, 160, 176, 188, 200, 208).

So do I knit the first stitch then yo for every stitch after that? If I do won't I still be 1 stitch short of doubling?

This is the complete pattern

It means you knit 1, yo, knit 1, yo, knit 1, yo etc. for the whole round.

I love that pattern, might have to snag it .

Hmm, that's whqt I thought, however that only gives me 1 1/2 times the number of stitches I started with and the pattern says I should have doubled.

Which size are you doing, and how many did you cast on?

If you (K1, YO) for the whole row you should have doubled your stitches. You'll have knit every existing stitch and then made one new stitch for each existing stitch. The next row you'll knit all stitches and you'll have a little row of eyelets.

Actually, I think you will be 1 stitch short of doubling.

If you repeat Knit 1, YO, Knit 1, YO to the end of the row, you will end with a Knit 1, since you can't do a YO at the end of a row (correct?).

So for example if you had 5 stitches on your needles before the row, then you will:

K1, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, K1

When you begin your next row you would have 9 stitches, not 10.... 1 short of doubling.

Edited to add: Based on the pattern, if you need an even number of stitches after your YO row (if you need to properly double the number of stitches) then you can cast on 1 stitch at the end of the row (where your last YO would have gone if it were possible).

The pattern is knit in the round, so you actually can do a YO at the end of the round.

Sorry - didn't actually read the pattern, just what was written in this thread so I didn't realize it was knitted in the round. Yes, if it's knitted in the round then you would double the number of stitches.
