vege kid pretending not to be.

i am just wondering if this is typical of vege kids or if i need to work through some things with my 4 yr old.
when she is play cooking in her kitchen she usually makes some meat dishes and pretends that she eats meat. she'll say, 'are you a vegetarian? i'm not'. or 'pretend you aren't a vegetarian okay' - this is all in character though, she knows its a game.
but in REAL life she'll say meat is gross and stinky and has never really shown an interest in eating meat, even though her dad does.
what do you think??

I was raised veggie and I would do exactly that. I think it's normal.

FWIW my siblings and I would also pretend to "cook" our barbies in meat dishes at one point I have no idea where that came from, and our parents were disturbed but we turned out fairly normal in the end. Kids are just weird!

My dd is 3.5 and does this too - dh eats meat and she understands that not everyone is vegetarian, so I think it's just a way of exploring that.

We are not omni and I did need to explain to one of my children that omnis do not eat everything. I introduced the term because she had taken to calling people meats and vegetables. As in, "I am a vegetable but Grandma is a meat."

It was so wrong in so many ways.

My kids have food intolerances and don't eat gluten or dairy, but they'll often pretend to eat both. I think it's part of exploring the differences between them and other people.
