oh gosh, My dh's mom said the SAME thing. OK, she is also a very large woman and has horrible eating habits. In fact she was diagnosed as GD with her last kid a year ago and now she is thinking that her other kids she was borderline. She always produced 9-11 lb babies. My mom produced 7-8 lb babies. When I was 37 weeks baby was about 6 lbs 4oz. I am pretty sure my babies will be a BIT closer to my mom's side then my DH's mom. My mom was healthy, ate whole foods, grains, little sugars, etc. His mom was NOT. She basically could eat muffins all day if she wanted to. You will be fine. Your baby will be the size that you are right to birth.

Congrats Pinoiki (sorry, suddenly unsure I spelled that right...) on the girl!!

I am somewhere between 12 and 14 weeks My original dating scan puts me at 13 weeks 0 days tomorrow. My most recent scan puts me at 13 weeks 3 days today. So who knows!
My official EDD is 8/8/10 per original scan.

We had the nucheal translucency test last week. All looked great!! And they're guessing girl for us

I have my insurance! Finally!

As of Monday I will call and try to get in Tuesday or Wednesday for my first appointment... I hit 8 weeks on Tuesday so there's a (slight) chance of hearing the tribbles heartbeat!!!!!!!!

Of course, if we cant find it I wont be heartbroken, I know sometimes 8 weeks is just too early... but if we can I will be SO relieved!!!!!

It will be doppler so a big chance of not hearing it.

And yeah... that son helps. As does DFs very male family (not many girls are born into the family, most marry in)

My husband's family is the same way. For generations. And we think we're having a girl! Yay!

When I married Dp, their family hadn't had a girl in 50 years.

This past year, though, my nephew had a daughter, and my BIL announced their baby will be a girl.. and then we found out we are having a girl...

You know a lot of people doubt that Chinese Gender predictor thing, but I think maybe there is some correlation about gender and time... There are some VERY smart Chinese people around.

My husband's family has scads of boys on both sides. In his generation, one side had 9 boy cousins in a row and then a girl. The other side had 7 boy cousins in a row and then a girl. There are no girls yet in Bagel's generation (there are several boys), but the other pregnant wife of a cousin knows that she's having a girl. Her husband had a highly inappropriate reaction at the ultrasound where he nearly became hostile with the tech because he didn't like the results.

My father-in-law toasted us at our wedding with the Godfather line, "May your first child be a masculine child." I thought at the time that he had just announced his plans to either have a grandson or a very butch granddaughter, but I didn't point this out to him.

yayyyyy it's a girl pinoikoi! i haven't seen you in forever so i was psyched to see your update. i like the name ursula - disney octopus villain aside, i think it's very pretty. another similar name that i really like is urmila - UR-mee-la. there's a bollywood actress, urmila matondkar (not sure if the last name is spelled right) and i always thought her name was really cool.

okay i only de-lurked to mention that name. if you like ursula, stick with it! and lauren, i think you just need to pick once you see the baby, because it can be hard to be sure. i love giselle, anneliese is still my favorite though!

Well I started crying REALLY hard last night as my husband has continued to veto names. Now he says he hates Amelia. I am just so lost. All I want to do is cry because all my favorite names are gone and he only "likes" these other ones. He says he doesn't LOVE any names because he is a guy and guys don't LOVE names. ugh. He is annoying the crap out of me. He still likes the name Adelynn Ruby the best which should be good bc it's after my mom lynn and grandma ruby and it does allow him to get his Addison fix in more or less. But I just feel like the name is "trendy" and people might think the spelling is trashy. I don't like trendy names normally. I like Anneliese just fine but I am worried about pronounciation issues. He is worried that the name is a little much for our last name. It's a very complicated spelling for what is essentially the name Jevrey. My husband and I always say Anne-a lees and then the next second we say Ah-na-lees.How would Americans do it? and I don't think I want random kids calling her Annie. I could do Anna but NOT annie. Should we just dumb it down and spell it Annalise so that the anna is inherent in the prononciation or will americans still say Anne-a?

Oh now he also says he can tolerate the name Elisabeth. I like Elizabeth, but he likes the S spelling bc it's the German way. Is this spelling asking for trouble?? I kinda like that Liz is no longer a nickname or lizzie as we both like FULL names not nicknames.

I really like Uma, but it sounds really dumb with my 3 syllable Filipino last name.. Yasmine was on my short list, but my stepson has a half sister named Jasmine, and I think it would be weird to have a half sister named Jasmine and a half sister named Yasmine (or Yasmeen).. Yvonne and Yvette I don't like because of past people associations, and Yael I am not sure how to pronounce.

Yael is pronounced, ya-elle. My good friend's little sister is named Yael, and we called her ya-ellie sometimes. It's israeli, I believe... yanessa, yanecia (ya-ness-ia).

Lauren31 - So sorry about the name ordeal... I don't know what to tell you, but I really think, with so much indecision between you and DH, you should just wait until baby shows up! (Although I do very much like Genevieve... ) ETA: I also like Elisabeth... and don't mind the "s" spelling at all, it has so many nickname possibilities!

You are so close now... has anything been "going on"? I realize you still have another week, and then so many go over their due date (I did with DD)... so who knows when baby girl will show up! Keep us posted though...

As for baby size... I don't know what makes a difference. DD was 9 lbs 8 oz, when both XH & I were "normal-sized" babies. The only thing "big" about either of us is that we are tall (5'10" for me, 6'4" for XH). I'm curious to see what happens with this little one. I'm a couple inches taller than DH... and his family definitely runs shorter than mine. I don't know if I just make big babies, or if this one will be smaller. Delivering a 7 pound "head" sure sounds nicer than a 9 lb "head"...

DH and his sister so far only produce boys as well. My ILs are getting their fourth grandson with this little guy. They do "have" DD, and they are wonderful with her, truly treating her like a granddaughter - which I am so very, very thankful for.

AFM - I'm so close to the halfway mark. Its getting rather real now. Thinking about the baby's room, and what baby-stuff we need... its so hard not to get overly excited!!!
