Hi Everyone! Thanks for reading!

Name: Lauri
Age: 32
Location: San Diego, CA (but am orig from NJ and have much love for the EC)
DDC Baby's Name: Avett (pronounced ay-vitt, as in rhymes with "David")
Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): 1 husband, 1 beloved yellow lab named Trucker

And a few more so we can get to know you better!
What number pregnancy was this for you?: First
Occupation: Freelance Writer/Editor - I own my own editorial operation and write/edit a variety of different materials for about 7 or 8 different clients. WOrking for myself is hard but rules. I never want to work for anyone else ever again!
Hobbies/Interests: Cooking, drinking wine, traveling, taking my dog to the beach, playing games w/ friends, that sort of thing. I also love pottery - throwing mugs and bowls and things - but I've had to give that up for now!
Share one weird/interesting fact about yourself: My dog has liver disease, so to keep him alive I home cook for him. He gets a lovely mixture of baked chicken thighs, baked potato, scrambled eggs, and peas. That plus a bazillion supplements and meds have kept him doing great for more than 2 yrs since his diagnosis, at which point his dr's gave him 6 months! Balancing my fur baby's care with my new human baby's has been challenging but I'm making it work so far. It sucked doing that cooking while I was pregnant, the chicken thighs made me want to barf every time.

Footed! :-)

The furtherst most interesting place I've been to is Micronesia. My sister-in-law was in the peace corps there, on an island called Kosrae, and we went for a month. It was amazing to be somewhere that was so untouchedAnd I want to go EVERYWHERE, but that is going to probably be a lot harder now...

Combo of two names we liked: Avram + Emmett = Avett. I'm constantly amazed at how many pplk mispronoune it tho - everyone wants 2 say "ah-vett" but it has a long A, as in rhymes w/ "david." i figured everyone knoes how to pronounce "Avery" and the A in Avett is the same - but nope! This poor kid will have to correct a lot of ppl over the course of his life. :-)

Why did you choose to cook for your dog versus doing a raw diet? Or can he not digest raw foods?

It's a nickname for my yellow lab, Trucker. My first baby!

The diet was actually formulated for him by vets at UC Davis - it is calabrated specifically to help treat his liver disease. We have pumped more professionals into keeping this dog alive than anyone would ever guess! It's almost embarrassing. Now that I have an actual human baby, though, I don't love my fur baby any less. :-)

Awww, that's cute!

What made you choose a yellow lab? (Of course, that is if you chose him and he didn't choose you. That happens a lot around here... I'd never purposely own a Pomeranian, lol!)

Oh we choose him. I've always loved labs - they are friendly, good-tempered, personable, and tend not to be neurotic or mean. The worst thing about them is the shedding! I will be pulling Trucker's hair off me when I'm 90, I'm quite positive. Avett has already swallowed so much dog hair...it kind of grosses me out but there's nothing I can do about it.
