Childrens books printed before 1970 (lead)

My MIL has a large box of great children books which would be great for homeschooling. However, I think a large portion of the books are printed before 1970. I know some of the material is outdated, but the books are really basic for example about trees, plants and time. However since they are printed before 1970, I am concerned about lead. Does anyone know if lead is an issue with books printed in the United States before 1970. I could not really find much information about that online.

I would not worry about it. Do not grind them up and inhale the dust, burn them and inhale the smoke, or eat them.
