That's a tall order to fill! I have changed the playlists on my iPod so many timea already, and still haven't found quite what I am looking for. I think the closest I have gotten to what I want is I went through my music library and just put every song I enjoy relaxing to on a single playlist so if I don't like what comes up I will probably like the next one. Mine has a lot of Dave Matthews, Bob Marley, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix.....and Enya! haha. I think Enya is the only new-agey contemporary music I own, but I ended up listening mostly to her last time I was in labor, it's very therapeutic and non-distracting. HTH!

I don't have a ton of music on my netbook, which is what I'll be bringing, but I think that most of it should work for labor. My criteria is similar to gabeyho's--music that is generally relaxing. There's a lot I could add to my playlist, but working with what was already on my computer, I have mostly classical and new age, with some more contemporary stuff. Enya's on my list too, as is Philip Glass (his pieces often sound repetitive until you've heard them a few times, then they're more nuanced. I find that they really help me focus.). Other things are personal favorites to which I have some connection: Peter Gabriel, Suzanne Vega, Paul Simon.
