No, breasts are for food only. When my baby starts playing at the breast, I set him/her down.

we are an anything goes nursing family. dd3 just turned 4 and she still cuddles either daddy's or my ninnies to go to sleep.

what's funny...when your 80 yr old g'ma stays over with the kids and the (then) 3 1/2 yr old tries to cuddle great g'mas ninnies to go to sleep!

Usually DD only see's one at a time as the other is still covered so I don't think she has ever thought of playing with one while nursing on the other! But once in a while I'll whip them both out and sit her on my lap facing me, it's so cute to watch her dive into one boob for a few sucks and then dive into the other one with a big smile on her face, mind you this is only at home! I just can't help myself I love to see her happy with a mouth full of boob!

I'm pretty much like the others...patting and stroking the other breast is okay, but NO touching or twiddling the nipple. Also, I don't allowing playing with the current "in-use" nipple either, but I'm more likely to give a little leeway if it's just blowing a raspberry once in a while or something like that. I voted "different in private or public" just because I don't really allow much patting in public.

This.

I learned fast with the first one not to even let it get started.

Yeah, my dd fully understands "FINGERS AWAY FROM MY NIPPLE PLEASE" since I've been saying it for-evah. and Evah. And Evah. Over and over again. Patting, squeezing are nice, twiddling (or nipple touching of any kind) makes my head explode almost instantly.

Absolutely no twiddling!

No one is allowed to twiddle. Not a nursing baby, not a nursing toddler, not DH...

I hate having my nipples touched. It squicks me out even if I do it to myself. A mouth on it isn't bad, but not fingers. Never ever.

I agree. Once they start twiddling it is really hard to get them to stop.

I have a firm "no twiddling!" policy.

I also do not allow acrobatics.

I have super sensitive nipples, and not in a good way. I was actually pretty worried that I wouldn't be able to nurse because of it, but nursing doesn't bother me at all. Patting or touching the rest of the boob is fine, though.

Oh I don't really care at this stage :P Bella is finding her way around and grasping at things, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. It doesn't bother me when she grabs my nipple at all. The only thing that bothers me is when her sharp little fingernails scratch my booby skin - that's ouchy! Other than that she can have as much or as little of a relationship with my boobs as she likes. I definitely feel that her relationship with my boobs, and the relationship my DP has, are very different and clearly two definable things.

I also think it's sweet when she hugs the booby to go to sleep, which she already likes to do when I am side-lying and nursing her down to sleep

I guess my nips are not sensitive. I don't care. DD does this a lot now. I suspect it isn't even about playing, but something to do with stimulating a let down.

I try to discourage it in public because she requires both breasts to be out in the open to do this.

I didn't mind if my nurslings touched the rest of my boob, but nipples were for food only. No hands.

I partially wish I could stop her from twiddling...or that I redirected her more when she was little. Sometimes, though, it's helpful. I have noticed it really speeds up my let down, and as long as she's not rough it's not bad. The only way I could stop it now is by wearing a nursing bra all the time. Since I *hate* wearing nursing bras more than twiddling, I've let it go. I keep her nails *very* trim (every few days).
