Cervadil or pit induction (if already dilated)?

Babe #3 is due in a few weeks, and hopefully this won't even be an issue! But I'm wanting some info, please.

A little history: #2 was a week over with 1 cm of water left (u/s was correct), and I had had two false starts making me 4cm dilated and completely effaced when I went in for the induction (I think her posterior position had something to do with labor just not kicking in on its own).

MW offered me gel overnight (like Cervadil), but all I could remember was the risks I had heard about using Cytotec, so I refused. Plus I was GBS positive and not wanting anything put in up there.

Pit was used slowly and carefully, turned down when I couldn't handle it, and finally turned off. Contractions hurting to baby out was 5 hours.

So, my question: if I had to do this over, should I choose Cervadil over pit-which one is LOWER RISK is my focus-- even with a GBS positive status?

Thanks!

Appropriately used Pitocin would be my choice too in that situation. First, because cervidil is more of a cervical ripener and thus probably wouldn't be as effective at 4 cm dialation, and secondly because Pitocin can be more individualized (whether it is or not is obviously a big question).

But Cervidil can get labour started without any further intervention whereas often with pit once it is started labour stops if it is turned off. Plus with cervidil you have a chance of being able to avoid being hooked up to an iv the whole time.
