post-dates babies and gender

I have heard from a few people that if you go past your EDD with a baby, it's more likely to be a boy. My daughter was born 5 days before her EDD, but this baby is hanging on! I'm just wondering what your experience has been so I can maybe cling to some hope that we could have another girl!

Well, I once heard that babies that hang on longer tend to be boys, but it hasn't been the case with me. I have 3 girls. First was born at 39w4d, but she was an induction and I don't think I was anywhere near going into labor. My second was born at 42w by induction and my third came on her own at exactly 41w. I am 100% sure of my dates. So, I would say there is still a chance you have a girl coming

I've never heard of that before.

FWIW I had a girl - 12 days late.

I have 1 daughter, born at 40w5d.

My two 42+ wk babies were both boys. But the 39 wk baby was also a boy.

I have two boys, both born at 39 weeks. Of the births I've attended, it seems like more post-dates babies have been girls but that's just anecdata.

I was born 3 weeks late and I'm a girl. My brothers were also born well past their EDD. My son was born only a couple of days late.

My 42 weeker was a girl.

I had two 41.5wkers - one boy, one girl. My 40wker was a boy. The twins were boys and 38wk - not sure when they'd have come on their own.

My girls both decided to come at 38 weeks, DS not until 40w5d.

boy at 40w 5d
boy at 39w 5

I have a girl, born at 42 weeks, 2 days.

I had a daughter at 44 weeks, and a son at 43 weeks. I have never heard postdates babies were likely to be one sex or the other. I thought it had more to do with the mother.

My only baby that came on time was my boy. He was born at 40+5, I think. My girls were 42+3, 43+5, 41+1, and 44. But that is all based on lmp and I have long cycles and don't know ovulation dates.

One girl, born at 43+1.

My girls were born at 38+4 and 38+3. I don't have any boys.

I was born at 41+?. Mom was induced.

Never heard that one!

first babe- 42+ weeks, GIRL
second babe- 40 weeks and a few days, GIRL
third babe- 42 weeks, BOY

so I guess that means I've cancelled myself out?

hmm. hard to believe!

my son (my first) was a week "early" my next two, both girls, where both over 42 weeks

My daughter was 9 days overdue (induced) and my son was only 2 days overdue. So, uh, both overdue, but Ds was "less" overdue...
