Moby advice needed!!

My dd2 has finally gotten over her opposition to being worn in the Moby so I'm using it quite a bit lately. I seem to have a problem with getting a snug fit on it though. Well, technically, the criss crossed straps are snug but by the time that I pull up the pouch in the front to complete the hug hold it seems like that part is very loose and slides right back down every time. I'm pretty sure I'm following the instructions but there must be something I'm missing. FWIW, I am a plus sized mama, and I tie it in the back with very little fabric left on the ends. Not sure if that makes a difference. It just doesn't feel as safe and snug as I would like, especially since I walk a fair distance to the bus stop and back to pick up dd1.

since the moby is stretchy, it should be pretty snug when you put it on, maybe able to put a fist in between you and the wrap before putting the baby in. How heavy is your baby? maybe you've outgrown the moby? usually around 15 lbs the stretchy gets too stretchy. but the cumberbund part shouldn't fall down like that... pull it tighter

I have to make mine WAY tighter than I think to get the last front part tight. As in uncomfortably tight until I put my baby in and it stretches out a bit.

I put in on very, very snug, with no slack at all and then would put her in. At the beginning I was trying to leave a little slack, assuming I needed it to fit her in, but it was making it too loose.

She is about 11 pounds, so I'm thinking it's not her weight just yet. I will try pulling it tighter when I put it on, I have it so it's somewhat snug but still comfy and maybe that's not tight enough. Thanks!

I am looking into a moby in addition to a gypsy mamma bali breeze wrapsody wrap that I have... Is the moby so stretchy that it gets loose with a larger/heavier child and you'd need to switch to another fabric?

When you're putting it on, and you've got the tails tucked through the cummerbund part but before you've tied it, run the slack from the front of the cummerbund around to your back and up and over your shoulders through the tails to get more of the slack into the ends. That way you should have a bit more room to tie with, and the cummerbund should be snug when you pull it up and over baby.

Also remember that it is the inner parts, i.e. the fabric that crosses your body in an X, that holds your baby securely against you. So make sure to bring each side from the back of your baby's knee to the back of her neck on each side, then pull the cummerbund up to keep everything in place -- but don't rely on just the cummerbund to keep her securely in place as that's not its role.

when you first put it on, are you scrunching or folding? That makes a big difference.

The trick I've learned is to snug everything up before tying.
I do this:
Center over my belly, criss-cross in back, over the shoulders, tuck through the cummerbund.
Then pull straight UP on the two shoulder pieces. This will pull the cummerbund tight at your middle, and tighten everything across your back. (Pulling UP at the shoulders works a LOT better than pulling DOWN on the two pieces you just threaded through the cummerbund.)

Enjoy your Moby! Nate loves riding in the Moby -- I swear it has saved my sanity many times!!!

Great, thanks, I will try this, I think this is actually exactly what I need to do. I just get overwhelmed with all the parts and where they are going/coming from and couldn't figure out what to pull tight.

Folding. Actually I was about to try scrunching, or just not folding it, because I don't think I need to fold it for the hug position, do I? It looks like it would be much easier to spread the fabric if I don't fold it (I was looking at some instructional youtube videos, love those).

I can't ever get it tight enough with the folding... I do ever carry under the sun and I just scrunch it up to get it on then spread it out. I never fold because it just doesn't do right for me...
