Chiro doesn't adjust pelvis since I got bigger...normal? - Page 2

Keep in mind that with chiropractic - one treatment doesn't fit all. Just because someone is using drops on a pregnant woman, doesn't mean that everyone should. And just because someone likes Network technique, doesn't mean that someone else won't find it inadequate.

There are literally dozens of different chiropractic techniques and a lot of practitioners have glommed onto specific adjustments from a variety of techniques (cherry picking the best so-to-speak). The key to success is finding a chiropractor that you feel comfortable with and that you resonate with.

I'm 32 weeks and my DH side-postures me and uses blocks. He wouldn't think of using drops on me. Whereas, if I have a pregnant patient, I'm more inclined to use an adjusting tool like an arthrostim. Logan basic is a wonderful technique for SI dysfunction....

I agree with mirtodd - and would like to add that not all the techniques used works on all pregnant women.

In my experience it seems that adjustments during pregnancy is disputed - several of the therapists I have seen so far do not adjust pelvic bones and very seldom any other parts during pregnancy because of the lax ligaments - it tend to make matter worse needing several adjustments during and also after pregnancy. They focus more on trying to loosen the tension in the surrounding muscles. On me that worked very well. indeed.

My chiro, who is trained in treating pregnant women and who did a great job with me last pregnancy, has only been using the activator on me so far this time. I can't remember if he did that up to a certain point last time, or if he's just being extra cautious this time because of a miscarriage I had 2 months prior to this pregnancy. I don't feel like I'm getting a thorough adjustment, and a chiro I saw while on vacation last month agreed and said mine was being overly cautious. However, I'm being pretty well, overall, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

But it's true, there is a wide range of treatments for pregnant women. I'm going to ask a lot of questions at my next appointment.
