How long after bloody show?

Just curious what people's experiences have been as far as going into labor after seeing bloody show? I'm a first-timer, 41 weeks 2 days and just had some pinkish/brownish "show." I've been having contractions, haven't timed them, but they don't seem too different from what i've been having the last couple of weeks (they might be slightly more cramp-like now, as opposed to just the tightening). Just wondering if I could still go another week or if this is a pretty good sign that things are moving along.

I'd love to hear your experiences!

Thanks!

With DS, I had bloody show around 9 a.m. and he was born at 7 p.m. The whole timeline is: 3 a.m. first little crampy ctx; 9 a.m., bloody show; transition around 4 or 5 p.m.; baby at 7 p.m.
He was born at 38w3d, and it was a home water birth where I was largely left alone, so my body was able to be efficient. At least I think it was efficient for a first-timer.

lol yeah probably not a week. if you havent hit full head on labor by now, you will within a few hours prolly. my bloody show came 8 hours before DD was born... but at the time my contractions were like a slight lower backache... withing 5 hours they had progressed to the point that we went to the hospital.

I hate to be a bubble burster, but my best friend had her first bit of bloody show a week and a half ago. She has been experiencing prodromal labor ever since - like painful intense contractions every 10 minutes or so ever since with "snotty" discharge.

with my 1st dd I had begun losing my mucus plug and began having bloody show on 12/24, she was born 12/29 pm following an induction. Everyone is different Mama~ but it sounds like you are well on your way .
Congrats!!

I lost my mucus plug in the early afternoon. If I recall correctly it came out in two bathroom visits. That evening around 8 or 8:30 I had some bloody show (bright red) and went into labor about 1 hour later. My daughter was born the next morning at 9:30am.

For me I usually had a baby within 24 hours...or at very least in active labor within that time!

I didn't have bloody show until maybe 2am during intense contractions and he was born at 4am. so 2 hours. Good luck, you're probably in labor by now anyways!

I had some pinkish brown tinged mucous somewhere around a week before i went into labour. So, i was 2 weeks overdue when i had the mucous, then i had bloody show when i was in labour a week later (middle of the night) and then had DD at 4pm the next day.

It will be soon one way or the other! Best wishes

Is the mucous plug and the bloody show the same? Can you go into labor with having lost your plug or had a bloody show??? (1st timer here, too).

some women lose their plug and never realize it, it can come out slowly or not come out until labors full blown and you are no longer paying attention.

many women get no bloody show that they are aware of (I had none with my first and just a teeny tiny little bit... like a drop... with DD)

and no they are no the same, unless you have them at the same time, the mucous plug will not be bloody... mine with DD looked a bit like clear jelly. Im not sure what it looks like to other women but as I said, some can come out slowly so you never even see it. the bloody show is usually due to blood vessels breaking as you dilate (if I remember correctly) and usually happens shortly before labor. If you do not go into labor shortly after it, its more likely caused by an internal exam, intercourse or strain rather than dilation.

I lost my plug one Friday morning and started having contractions a few hours after that. My son was born Sunday morning. Good luck!!

With my dd I started losing my mucus plug around 3 in the afternoon and had bloody show shortly after. I went into labor that night and she was born the next day around 1 pm. With my ds I had it during active labor a little before his birth.

With my first it was well over a week. I don't think bloody show is a very reliable indicator that labor is close at hand.

It was approximately 15 hours from seeing the bloddy show and when DS was born.

My labor started around the same time as bloody-show. I felt some light contractions/cramping, went to the bathroom and saw some brownish blood. From then my contractions started getting stronger and eventually closer together.
