I just got back from having my glucose test done, and I can sum that up in one word: YUCK! Anyway, my doctor had the girl re-check my weight because she's goofy, was in a hurry and weighed me with my big winter coat on. My doc said "You couldn't have gained 13lbs in two weeks!" So after the re-check, it was only 8..... EIGHT lbs in 2 weeks?! This seems so extreme to me. She didn't seem very very concerned about it, I'm 28 weeks and up until now I had only gained 2lbs. Has anyone else gained this much over a 2 week time period? I was spazzin' out for a bit!!

I've done it in one.
But that's a Christmas and Thanksgiving type thing for me, and usually it doesn't stick once my system has evened out a bit. Also, it can easily be thrown off by using a different scale, weighing at different times of the day with different clothes on, etc. Weight can fluctuate quite a bit. In my first pregnancy I once lost 7 pounds in one night. Not sure how that happened.

I check at home, first thing in the morning after I pee. I check daily because I have to keep my weight gain under control (and try, if possible, to lose bad weight while gaining good... but not overdoing it, you know?)
Even that can vary by a few pounds per day. today was 2 more than yesterday which was 3 less than the day before... and its supposed to be a really reliable scale!

Yeah, she first weighed me on one set of scales.. with my winter coat on, lol.
Then on a different set.
I weighed at the house on the digital scales and it says 8lbs also.
When the incorrect number w/ my coat and etc was on came up my dr said something had to be wrong. But after the 8lbs she didn't say anything at all. So I'm assuming it's not too big of a deal since I really haven't gained much.
I am actually still wearing my jeans and most of my shirts, I bought 3 maternity shirts but I just recently had to go up a size in my bra. Maybe baby has hit a growth spurt? Or maybe I've drank too much juice & ate one too many cookies.... lol.

I wouldnt sweat it. So many variables.
I weight close to daily, and honestly, it totally take the weight stress out of it for me. The reason for this is because I see my weight vary by 5 lbs up and down daily, all the time. Therefore, if I step on a scale and it says I am up 3lbs in 2 days or something, I don't even think about it.
Example, I had eaten lots of heavy food, was wearing heavy clothes, and was crazy constipated. I weighed 148lb. I weighed at the same time the next day, after a light meal and in shorts, and after I had dispelled everything from my guts (TMI, sorry). 142.6lbs.
My weight fluxuates a ton. So if you take into account normal discrepencies, s different scale, and maybe a small spurt in weight gain, I would not be too concerned.
Last note...I gain in spurts in pregnancy. I start at normal healthy weight, have gained 30lbs with my first two and am right on track for that this time. I gain 1-3lbs in the first 15 or so weeks, then usually in a week I gain like 4lbs. Then nothing for a month or so, then same thing. It is really odd, but just the way my body seems to work.
If it were me I would just check on my own scale in a few days, and if you have gained so little, you were probably due for some gain anyway. (I hate it when people tell me that, lol)

I wouldn't worry about it. During this pregnancy, I hadn't gained much up until my 5th or 6th month where I gained 11lbs in one month and my OB didn't even bat an eye. We all have weight spurts at various points in our pregnancy - I would say between the 5th and 7th month.
I just had an appt today where I had gained 5lbs in two weeks. My doc wasn't concerned really, but she saw my swollen ankles and calves and was pretty certain that's what it was seeing that I hadn't gained that much at previous appts. There was one that I didn't gain any at all. So again, it really all varies.... Water weight is our worst enemy right now.

Well weight gain in pregnancy seems very elusive to me. Any book you read portrays it as this steady one pound here and then one pound there thing, and that is not often what happens. If you had only gained 2 lbs by 28 wks, I'm guessing your body was due for it. It's very unlikely you will continue to gain at that pace from here forward. Also there are so many extra fluids in your body during pregnancy. I think it really can fluctuate.
I have been very surprised with weight gain so far. Normally I have a really high metabolism and a low bmi (18), and have a very hard time gaining weight. I have not been eating very differently than how I ate before preg. and I've gained 23 lbs in 23 wks. No junk food, no overeating, no fast food. I didn't even eat a lot over the holidays due to an ice storm thwarting the Christmas dinner shopping at the inlaws. It doesn't even look like that much. I can still wear a lot of normal clothes just fine. So I'm not sure where I've packed it.

Thanks you all, your responses make me feel so much better, lol.
Now, a little off topic from my original post.. but the doctors office I go to offers the ultrasounds to be recorded onto DVD.. but our 20wk we didn't get to have one done because that machine was messed up. I asked her today if it is fixed because we really want a dvd, and she said it's STILL messed up and "should" be fixed by my 32wk u/s in four weeks. If it's not I'm gonna be so bummed! Could i just take in a video camera and record the screen? lol. I doubt that would show up as good, though.

I about died. My OB wasn't really concerned, because that puts me at 23 pounds total and I'm 30 weeks. She just told me to try to keep it to a pound a week from here on out.
