Babywearing in COLD weather

Just wanted to see what other moms do when the weather is COLD and icy. . .

Do you put baby in the carrier outside by the car or do you wait until you get inside where it is warm? Lately it has been very cold (teens) with strong winds here. Brrr.

TIA

I use this type of carry, and I put the wrap on before I leave the house, and then when I get where I am going, I hop out and put baby in it then. It's really easy just to hop in the back seat and take baby out there and put him in and then go in the store. With this type it covers their ears and head too, so they don't get cold, and you can wear a coat over it too if it is big enough.

Generally I carry ds into where we are going & then put him on. If we are going to be out for an extended period I'm rarely leaving from the car & so I can take the time in the house to get us all set up.

I didn't have to deal with the cold when he was really little though as we were in Costa Rica.

I usually get her out, leaning over her in the carseat to block the wind, I put her in, pull the wrap over her head--sometimes a hat too--then a blanket, and if it's in the teens, DH's coat is big enough to zip over both of us. Then I get my toddler out of the carseat, get her coat on and zipped and have her hold my hand as we walk into the store.

If it's raining or suuuper windy, and she's sleeping, I've been known to *gasp* carry her in in the carseat bucket. But it's a pain. lol

Thanks mammas!

I rotate between taking her out and putting her in the wrap or carrier, taking her out and carrying her inside and then putting her in it (to get her out of the cold quicker), and carrying her in the car seat (not much longer!) because she is wrapped up and warm in there, and then putting her in the wrap/carrier inside. I just *hate* this cold wind hitting her especially since I dont put a coat on in the car seat but instead use warm blankets. Ugh!

I just wondered what other mamas do.

I haaaaate that reflex that happens when the wind hits baby's face. So i always put baby in carrier in the car and then wrap blankets over him before i get out of the car.
