Is this a big deal (finish on high chair)

My MIL refinished the (gorgeous) antique high chair she used for my DH for us to use for DS. It is beautiful, except I am pretty sure she used regular wood sealer on the whole thing- is this a big deal in terms of toxicity? He is not chewing on the actual chair, but he does eat finger foods off of the tray....

Why not ask her exactly what product she used & then you can look into it. If you are still uncomfortable you could put an additional sealing coat of something else over top of it.

FWIW - we use a refinished wood highchair as well & have had no problems with it. I do try to put most of ds' food onto plates/bowls but that is primarily to make clean up easier for me.

Honestly? I wouldn't worry about it. The big deal with most finishing products is breathing the fumes while applying or somehow ingesting bits of it in quantity.

I second this!

Make sure, to let her know how grateful you are.
