Supervised Visitation...Who Pays

I was talking to my attorney and she said there was a chance that I could end up paying half of the cost for ex's supervised visitation with dd. That sounds ridiculously unfair! Who pays in the supervised visitation cases that you know about?

I'd push back on that in a big way. Why on earth should you have to subsidize his inability to visit your child w/out supervision?

My sentiments exactly! She didn't say it was definite, but just that there was a chance that they would require me to pay 1/2. She said that she's been seeing it a lot lately.

I've seen it ordered split in unusual circumstances--for instance, if the parents are teens, paternity has just been established and Dad is trying to newly introduce himself into his kid's life (and he's not a bad guy, he just didn't know he was the dad and has never really been around a baby before), sometimes the court will order supervision at first and order costs be split. (More often, the mom will just consent to her mother or the father's mother supervising.)

But I've not seen it split just for the sake of splitting...that's odd, at least around here.

my ex had to pay for his but I've heard of mom's having to pay half, especially ifi they insist on supervised visitation and there's not a lot of documented reasons why it should be supervised.

I'm hoping that the ex has to pay for his. His supervised visitation was ordered by the court, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
